The subject prosecuted is Duong Duc Thang, born in 1969, residing in sub-zone 1, Thuan Chau commune, Son La province, for the crime of fraud and appropriation of property as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 174 of the Penal Code.
Initial investigation results determined: Taking advantage of social networks and acquaintances, Duong Duc Thang learned that Mr. Vu Chu Do's family had a son who had finished university but had not found a job. Thang himself was only an excavator operator, a freelance worker, not a person with duties or authority in job recruitment and had no ability to find a job.
Through the fraudulent scheme of knowing many "bosses" working in the admissions department and being able to get a job for Mr. Vu Chu Do's son as a forest ranger, Duong Duc Thang appropriated 400 million VND from Mr. Do's family for personal expenses.
The subject Duong Duc Thang then fled the area, changing his phone number to avoid being searched by the authorities.
The Investigation Police Agency, Son La Provincial Police, has tracked down Duong Duc Thang while he was hiding at a motel in alley 89, lane 250, Kim Giang street, Kim Giang ward, Hanoi city.
The case is currently under investigation.
