The V.League 2024/25 championship race was decided in round 25 with defending champions Thép Xanh Nam Định successfully retaining their title, but the battle for third place and the 1.5 relegation spots remains open until the final round on June 22, 2025.

The relegation battle was actually more intense than the search for the champion, as the central region witnessed teams struggling to avoid relegation. Finally, Round 25 saw the "pain of the Central region" as Quy Nhon Binh Dinh fell behind with a 0-1 defeat against hosts Ho Chi Minh City FC, while Da Nang and Song Lam Nghe An both gained valuable points to move up the standings. After Round 25, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh occupies the last position on the table with 21 points, while Da Nang is just above them with one point more.

Both Quy Nhon Binh Dinh and Da Nang will play at home in the final round of the V.League, but Quy Nhon Binh Dinh faces a greater disadvantage as their opponent is Hanoi FC, whileSHB Da Nang's challenge is Song Lam Nghe An.

However, it's too early to say anything about either the race for third place or the relegation battle in the V.League 2024/25, and only when the 26th round is completely finished will we know the final results.

Returning to the title race, playing away at Tam Ky against Quang Nam, where a draw would have secured the championship one round early, Nam Dinh Steel Green did even better. With 54 points after 25 rounds, Nam Dinh successfully defended their title as champions, because in the match played at the same time, second-placed Hanoi FC lost to The Cong Viettel in the Hanoi football derby with a score of 1-2 at their home stadium, Hang Day.

Thus, with only one round remaining, the 8-point gap between Nam Dinh Steel and Hanoi FC is insurmountable, and the match against Hong Linh Ha Tinh at Thien Truong Stadium in round 26 next week (June 22nd) will be the official moment of Nam Dinh's coronation.

This is a well-deserved result, because in the long-distance race this season, Nam Dinh Steel has demonstrated stability in its playing style and a strong squad, despite being without their top striker Nguyen Xuan Son for most of the season due to injury.

While the V.League title race officially ended in round 25, the battle for third place remains intense, with both Hanoi teams, The Cong and Hanoi Police, securing 3 points in this round.

Currently, Hanoi Police is ranked 3rd with only 1 point more than The Cong in 4th place, and in the upcoming 26th round, both Hanoi Police and The Cong will play at home against Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City FC respectively.

Hanoi Police are currently in a strong position in the race for third place because they have control over their own destiny, but their opponent, Hai Phong, is a much tougher challenge than the challenge posed by Ho Chi Minh City FC of The Cong, a team currently chasing the title and needing more than one condition to finish the season in third place.
