Students from the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, experience performing Xam (a traditional Vietnamese folk singing style) on stage.

The "Xẩm to School" project, in collaboration with SOOBIN, recently visited students at the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts - Vietnam National University , Hanoi . During the event, students not only listened to artisans share about the history, value, and spirit of Xẩm art, but also directly enjoyed emotionally rich performances. Notably, the performance of "Mục hạ vô nhân" (A Man Who Lives Without a Purpose) set to traditional Xẩm music provided a truly special experience.

Building on the experience of enjoying the performance, the program further expanded the interactive space as students directly "role-played" as Xẩm singers. After the performance of "Mục hạ vô nhân, " the students, along with the artists, recreated a segment of the work, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of the rhythm, melody, and spirit of Xẩm.

The program also featured a short video introducing the artistic journey of SOOBIN – a son born into a cradle of traditional culture, raised under the dedicated guidance of his father, People's Artist Huynh Tu. From his early days learning the zither to embarking on a professional artistic career, SOOBIN has always preserved and cherished the cultural values that have contributed to shaping his personal identity.

SOOBIN chose a quote from cultural researcher Trinh Bach as his guiding principle throughout his journey of bringing Xam (traditional Vietnamese folk singing) to school : "The value of culture lies in the continuity of generations." This journey is clearly demonstrated through many notable milestones such as the "Trong Com" (Rice Drum) performance in the "Brother Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles" program, explosive stage performances, his first solo concert, SOOBIN Live Concert: ALL-ROUNDER, as well as the music video "Muc Ha Vo Nhan" (No One Under Heaven ) - a song that combines traditional Xam with a modern feel.

SOOBIN was surprised to receive an antique bầu instrument as a gift from the Center for Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vietnam.

Also at the program, representatives from the Vietnam Center for the Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage (VICH) presented SOOBIN with an antique bầu instrument, as a symbol of appreciation and cooperation in the journey of preserving and spreading traditional cultural values to the community.

Previously, on November 10, 2025, SOOBIN officially released the music video "Mục hạ vô nhân ," quickly attracting widespread public attention. SOOBIN shared: "Through the 'Xẩm đến trường' project, SOOBIN wants to convey that Vietnamese culture is not distant or difficult to access. If we take the time to listen and learn, we will find many beautiful, interesting, and proud things within it."

SOOBIN hopes that young people, especially the students here today, will open their hearts to traditional values. The more we understand our culture, the stronger we become in defining our own identity and direction."

Following its initial phase in Hanoi, the Xam to School community project is expected to continue to two more schools in Central and Southern Vietnam.
