Youth power in ethnic and mountainous areas of An Giang

An Giang has 6 outstanding and prestigious young people, who are shining examples in starting a business and contributing, and were commended by the Central Youth Union Secretariat in 2025. They are ambitious, proactive, and volunteer young people, contributing to building a civilized and prosperous homeland.

As Secretary of the Youth Union of Vinh Thanh Hamlet, Vinh Phong Commune, for over 5 years, Ms. Thi Xa Ral has supported many Khmer women to earn more income and improve their lives. From learning the craft of weaving water hyacinth, she opened a class to teach the craft to female union members and local youth. Despite facing many difficulties in raw material sources, she still persevered in finding partners outside the province to ensure output for her products.

In 2020, she established a Water Hyacinth Weaving Association, which by 2022 had developed into a Handicraft Water Hyacinth Weaving Cooperative, currently with 89 members, mainly women. Products are consumed in Ho Chi Minh City and exported to the US. Each month, the cooperative brings in a profit of about 150 million VND, contributing to increasing the income of its members. In addition, she also established a model of "Xa Ral Clean Agricultural Products Processing Service" with a stable revenue of about 300 million VND/year, creating jobs for dozens of members, helping many women escape poverty.

In the field of startups, Ms. Nguyen Hoang Ngoc Yen - a member of Binh Hoa commune's Youth Union successfully built the "Straw mushroom rice paper" model with a revenue of nearly 800 million VND/year, a profit of more than 100 million VND and created jobs for 20 local workers.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Linh - a member of Thoi Son ward's Youth Union stands out with his laser engraving model, producing handicraft products with a revenue of 800 - 900 million VND/year. Mr. Linh is creating jobs for 5 permanent workers, 10 seasonal workers and vocational training for more than 20 young people. Mr. Linh shared: "I am very honored to be recognized by the Central Youth Union Secretariat. I will continue to improve product quality, build local brands and create more jobs for rural youth."

In the volunteer field, Mr. Danh Minh Thanh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Hoa Thuan Secondary and High School Youth Union was recognized for his achievements in blood donation and blood donation mobilization. As a medical professional, Mr. Thanh is well aware of the role of blood donation not only in saving lives but also in improving health. In 2023 and 2024, he directly donated and mobilized the donation of 32 units of blood, exceeding the target assigned by his superiors. Not only that, Mr. Thanh also actively guided students to participate in creative competitions, propagating the law and won many awards, such as the second prize in the 2024 Traffic Safety Technology Application Competition with the smart helmet product.

Another example is Ms. Marigiah - a Cham ethnic, a teacher at Vinh Truong B Primary School, Vinh Hau Commune. Not only does she do a good job in her professional work, she also has many initiatives to improve Vietnamese language teaching for ethnic minority students. At the same time, she mobilizes sponsors to award scholarships, gifts and organizes volunteer activities for students and local people.

The above young people are living proof that An Giang youth live a beautiful and useful life, ready to contribute to the community and the Fatherland. They are a source of inspiration for the young generation to continue to strive, rise up and make positive contributions to their homeland and country.
