Located in Mui Ne ward, the Phan Thiet Civil Airport project, with a total investment of over 3,900 billion VND and an area of nearly 75 hectares, is planned according to 4E standards – a level allowing the operation of modern wide-body aircraft – with a designed capacity of approximately 2 million passengers per year in phase 1.

The project, which completed the investment approval procedures and officially commenced construction in just 5 months, with a commitment to completion within 2 years, is vivid evidence of the effective coordination between the government and private enterprises in developing national strategic infrastructure, in line with the spirit of Resolution 68 of the Politburo on promoting the role of the private economy.
At the heart of the project is an 18,000 m² passenger terminal with a design inspired by the indigenous Champa culture. The cultural depth and thousand-year history are told through a modern, highly functional architectural language, imbued with the philosophy of "Spirit of Fire - Aspiration for Greater Heights."
Accordingly, the terminal's appearance mimics the shape of the Poshanu towers – one of the most distinctive spiritual architectures of Champa culture, symbolizing power and prosperity. The characteristic corbel brick construction technique, the stepped arches reaching towards the sky, and the deep red color of the bricks that endures over time... create a unique identity for the airport from the moment passengers arrive.

The station's 13-story dome structure features 12 floors symbolizing a complete cycle, while the 13th floor represents a transition, opening up a new journey, a new era, and aspirations for growth. The supporting columns at the main facade are designed as a point of intersection between stillness and movement, where the flow of energy is received and radiates in four directions.
The archway is stylized into an upward-pointing triangle, symbolizing fire and vitality, combined with light filtering through the stepped layers of the structure, creating a continuous transition between light and shadow, solid and void. The station space becomes a harmonious creation that is not static but always in motion, like a torch illuminating the way for millions of journeys.
This is the first time an airport in Vietnam has been built with the philosophy that architecture is not just for admiring, but also for feeling the layers of meaning of the captivating Champa civilization. From here, each flight takes off carrying the identity and aspirations of this land to the world .

Opening up new development opportunities for the entire region.
The apron has 6 parking positions accommodating both wide-body Code E and narrow-body Code C aircraft, seamlessly connected to the terminal via a taxiway system. The 45m-high air traffic control tower is equipped with an AWOS weather observation system and modern navigation equipment, ensuring safe flight operations under all conditions.
The entire technical infrastructure for electricity, water, internal port transportation, and security is designed synchronously according to international standards, creating a complete, self-contained, and efficient airport. The airport is designed to serve regular domestic flights while also having the capacity to handle irregular international flights, opening up prospects for directly welcoming international tourists to Mui Ne - Phan Thiet in the near future.
The architecture of Phan Thiet Airport is woven from purposeful symbols, where each shape and number carries its own layer of meaning, together telling a unified story.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh assessed this as a moment of great significance for a land rich in tourism potential like Phan Thiet - Mui Ne.
"I highly appreciate the efforts of the leaders and departments of Lam Dong province, and the decisive and professional involvement of Sun Group - an enterprise that has proven its capabilities through the practical investment, construction, and operation of Van Don International Airport and the investment, expansion, and operation of Phu Quoc International Airport to serve APEC. This is proof that Vietnamese private enterprises have the capacity and strength to participate in strategic national infrastructure projects - not only participating but also doing well, quickly, and responsibly," Minister Tran Hong Minh observed.
When operational, Phan Thiet Airport will make Lam Dong the next locality in the country to have two airports. This project will significantly shorten travel time from major centers such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and popular tourist destinations in Vietnam such as Phu Quoc to Phan Thiet, opening up opportunities to welcome millions of domestic and international tourists each year.
Phan Thiet Airport is not just a stopover point, but also a place where heritage takes flight.
The presence of Phan Thiet Civil Airport is a strong signal attracting a new wave of investment in resort real estate, commerce, logistics, and aviation services, creating thousands of jobs and making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development of Lam Dong province - the largest province in the country. From a macro perspective, Phan Thiet Airport - the civil component - also plays a strategic role in the South Central air transport network, strengthening connectivity with the southern key economic region.
Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group, affirmed: "Phan Thiet Airport is not just an infrastructure project, but also the starting point for a large-scale tourism-resort-aviation ecosystem that Sun Group plans to invest in Lam Dong in the coming time. This will contribute to the formation of a new development space, promote service and logistics industries, enhance investment attraction for the entire region, and at the same time create convenient travel for local people."
This is also the third airport invested and built by Sun Group. Previously, Sun Group's member companies invested in and operated Van Don International Airport; operated Phu Quoc International Airport; and invested in expanding Phu Quoc Airport to serve APEC 2027. Sun Group also owns the luxury airline Sun Air and the commercial airline Sun PhuQuoc Airways.
The addition of Phan Thiet Civil Airport to the map of airports developed nationwide by Sun Group further affirms its ambition to build the first "private aviation group" in Vietnam.
