Author Kieu Anh Dung wins first prize this month for his work on the Nguyen Hue flower street.

(NADS) - "I have always wanted to promote the beauty of Ho Chi Minh City to all the people of the country and international friends." These were the heartfelt words of photographer Kieu Anh Dung, shared with a reporter from Photography and Life Magazine upon receiving the award for best photo of the month in the "Beautiful Moments Around Us" competition.

The work " Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2024 - An Attractive Spring Destination in Ho Chi Minh City" made a strong impression on the judges, deservedly winning the First Prize of the Month. This is one of the best entries currently among thousands submitted to the photo contest themed "Beautiful Moments Around Us," organized by the Southern Representative Office of Photography and Life Magazine in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Photography Association, under the patronage of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. The contest runs from June 17, 2023 to June 17, 2024.

When asked what he was most proud of and what message he wanted to convey through this photo series, he replied...

Author Kieu Anh Dung said: “Throughout the time the Nguyen Hue flower street was being created, I felt an intense sense of pride in the city where I was born, because of its magnificent splendor. Although Ho Chi Minh City's economy is currently facing difficulties, all businesses have still stood by the city, resulting in a truly magnificent flower street for the public, for the city's residents and those living abroad to have a place to celebrate Tet and enjoy the full atmosphere of the Year of the Dragon.”

For many years, I have been photographing Nguyen Hue Flower Street because I have always wanted to introduce to the people of the whole country the unique cultural beauty and development of Ho Chi Minh City through this iconic flower street project.”

Kiều Anh Dũng further shared that, to create this artwork, he had to wake up early in the morning to record moments from sunrise to sunset for many consecutive days just to find the most unique features.

As a photographer who regularly submits excellent works to Photography and Life Magazine and has won this award, photographer Kieu Anh Dung could not hide his joy as he excitedly shared:

"I have collaborated with Photography and Life magazine for a long time because I want to bring the beauty and unique characteristics of each region to people across the country and to international friends."

"And this competition is a wonderful opportunity for photographers like myself to express our feelings, to bring the essence of life from the places we visit closer to the public, and I am proud to contribute to society with the works I am most passionate about."

The total prize money is over 150 million VND.

The first "Photography and Life" contest, with the theme "Beautiful Moments Around Us," will be held from June 17, 2023 to June 17, 2024.

Throughout the competition, the Organizing Committee will award monthly, quarterly, and annual prizes with a total prize pool of 150 million VND. The grand prize is worth 35 million VND, including: a Grand Prize medal from the Organizing Committee, a Canon EOS R100 kit 18-45mm camera, and 15 million VND in cash.
