(QNO) - Currently, Tam Ky City is implementing a comprehensive set of solutions to promote the development of digital government and smart cities. In particular, it is focusing on accelerating digital transformation in education and is a leading locality in the province in this field.

Investing in digital infrastructure

In January 2025, the People's Committee of Tam Ky City inaugurated two digital libraries at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School and Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School, and a STEM classroom at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School. All three projects serve the digital transformation of the city's education sector with a total cost of 11.5 billion VND.

The STEM classroom at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School is equipped with STEM kits in various fields: Science and Measurement, Physics, Mechanical and Electrical Physics, Architecture and Construction, Automated Robotics, Intelligent Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), STEM Coding and Software. It also includes multi-purpose machine tools, CNC cutting machines, 3D printers, and practical mechanical tool kits. Furthermore, there is classroom management software for teachers, learning software for students, and learning management features to track student progress, evaluate, and manage classes; as well as a STEM book library for students and teachers to learn and research independently.

Pham Chau Tu Uyen, a student in class 9/5 at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School, shared: “Most of our time in class is spent learning theory, but with the introduction of this STEM classroom, we have the opportunity to practice what we've learned using electronic devices and robots. This helps us absorb the lessons more effectively.”

Ms. Trinh Thi Hai Ly, Head of the Natural Science Department at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School, said: “When studying in this STEM classroom, students are very excited because they have the opportunity to access information technology and especially robots, which has aroused their curiosity and desire to explore. For teachers assigned to teach in the STEM classroom, it is essential to constantly seek out and improve their knowledge and access new technologies to impart knowledge and inspire passion and exploration in students, creating high-quality STEM products for learning and practical application.”

Promoting digital transformation in education

Besides the STEM classroom at Ly Tu Trong Secondary School, the digital libraries at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School and Ly Thuong Kiet Secondary School are equipped with technological infrastructure such as library membership card printers, barcode printers for document management, barcode scanners for managing borrowing and returning materials, reader check-in gates, library management software, and 20 computers with internet access; they also offer over 3,000 digital books, audiobooks, 3D printed books, and traditional printed books. Since their launch, these digital libraries have attracted a large number of students to research, read, and study in groups. This has contributed to fostering creativity and proactive learning among students, while also developing a reading culture within the schools.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuc Xuan, Principal of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, said: “To ignite a passion for reading in our students, the school organizes a weekly reading session at the digital library. In addition, during recess, library staff guide students to read books in the library and on online platforms. Furthermore, the school regularly organizes extracurricular activities to attract more students to the digital library.”

According to the direction of Tam Ky City, the locality will aim for comprehensive development of digital education associated with building a proactive, creative, self-learning, and self-researching learning environment, strongly developing a reading culture, and creating conditions for all teachers and students to access new methods and technologies in education. Therefore, the city will continue to invest in building and developing digital libraries and STEM classrooms in schools in the coming time.
