Make use of ornamental plants for Tet (Lunar New Year)

Ornamental plants used for Tet (Vietnamese New Year) celebrations can be replanted in home gardens to avoid waste.

After Tet (Lunar New Year), Mr. Hung took his potted peach blossom tree and left it carelessly in an empty plot of land near his house. Seeing this, Mr. Luyen, the village head, stopped and asked:

- That peach tree is so fresh and beautifully sprouted, why don't you prune it and plant it in the garden instead?

- Every year I buy a new peach blossom tree for Tet anyway, why bother planting one? Besides, it won't look as beautiful as the ones in the garden, and I won't be able to bring them into the house for Tet anyway.

- I see your garden is spacious; you could plant some peach trees. When the season comes, they'll bloom, and if you're good at growing them, they might even bear fruit. We can admire them; there's no need to transplant them into pots to display indoors.

"Moreover, early spring is the time for tree planting. If each household takes advantage of the ornamental plants they used during Tet and plants them in their gardens, wouldn't many new trees be planted every year? This would beautify the garden and protect the environment. If you're worried about the garden being too small, you can remove the old, slow-growing plants and plant new ones. Or, you can call the nursery that bought the plants during Tet to take the roots back and have them propagate them, which would save waste," Mr. Luyen added.

"Now that you mention it, I just remembered. When I visited my cousin's house during Tet, I was so impressed by his garden. It had everything: peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, kumquats, orchids – all blooming beautifully just in time for Tet. It turns out he always takes the trees he used for Tet and replants them in his garden. They look so naturally beautiful when planted there."

- That's right, these plants are all easy to grow. You can research online and apply the techniques; they'll bloom just in time for Tet. Or, if you don't want to plant them in your garden, let me ask the schools, temples, or pagodas if they accept plants in their grounds, and you can take them there. We'll be utilizing the plants and reducing waste in the environment.

- Yes, in my opinion, you should announce it on the village's Zalo group so that all households can participate. This will beautify the landscape and prevent the trees from being wasted.

- You're right, I'll let them know right away.
