Recently, a small European company called Nichols Cars attracted considerable attention from visitors when it displayed the N1A ICON 88 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event. This is one of the most mysterious-looking high-performance cars that people have seen at a Concours show in quite some time. With a powerful 7-liter LS3 V8 engine that produces 650 horsepower, this engine produces 650 horsepower. Thanks to the chassis and clever graphene-coated carbon fiber body panels, this figure reaches an impressive 700 horsepower per ton. On the outside, the body design is quite beautiful, reminiscent of the legendary Twin Mill, one of the most popular Hot Wheels models ever sold.
Of course, the Twin Mill itself was inspired by some of the craziest custom racing cars built in the late 60s and early 70s, the same inspiration that Nicolas Cars used to design their flagship, and currently only series-produced model. But in fact, the main inspiration was the legendary McLaren M1A Group 7 race car of the 1960s. The front end is low to the ground and slightly tilted, and the top of the powerful engine protrudes from the exposed engine compartment behind the two seats. But with a modern interior and matching alloy wheels, Nicholas Cars has combined the best of the past and present to create a car with a very unique personality.
Instead of a sequential or automatic transmission, the N1A's hand-built engine came with a conventional six-speed manual. Because, you know, sequential manuals weren't common in the 1960s, which is definitely more in keeping with the theme. Like these true professional racers, safety features are limited to the maximum allowed due to production restrictions. Basic traction control is standard, and anti-lock brakes are an optional extra. In total, only 100 Nichols N1As were made for the world , priced at £450,000, or about $582,000. In fact, Nichols could have easily sold them for twice that much and still sold them all. You get a lot of value for your money.
In addition, there are 15 Icon 88s, including the ICON 88-series N1A, on display at Pebble Beach this year, which pays tribute to each victory of the McLaren MP4/4, one of the N1A's many racing inspirations. Video : See details of Nichols N1A ICON 88 limited to 15 cars.
