Princess Bajrakitiyabha suffered a stroke in December 2022. Doctors determined the cause was a severe cardiac arrhythmia due to a heart infection. She has been in a coma since then.

Her passing is seen as a great loss to the Thai Royal Family, as the princess was one of the most accomplished members of the royal family and was once considered a potential key figure in the succession.
