Destination appeal
For the first time in many years, the Hoi An Memory Island area welcomed over 30,000 visitors who stayed overnight and watched performances over the 9-day holiday, with more than 70% of them being Vietnamese tourists.
Ms. Than Thi Thu Huyen, CEO of Hoi An Memory Island, said that this is a "huge" number but not surprising for the business, especially given the large number of Vietnamese tourists.
“Besides favorable factors such as the long holiday period and the increasingly prominent brand of Da Nang as a destination, the implementation of attractive promotional combo packages has met the increasingly diverse needs of Vietnamese tourists. We will continue to maintain these promotional policies in the coming months,” Ms. Huyen said.
It's no coincidence that for many years, Da Nang has consistently been among the most popular destinations for Vietnamese tourists. Besides its safe and friendly tourism environment, visitors can also enjoy a variety of recreational activities, swimming, and delicious, affordable seafood. During the recent holiday, the occupancy rate of most accommodations in the city reached 75-80%, with some reaching maximum capacity.
Mr. Do Nhu Chau, the investor of Pavillon Hoi An Hotel, shared that these are quite positive signs for the business community, even though the peak summer tourist season has not yet officially begun. During the recent holidays, the occupancy rate of Pavillon Hotel consistently reached 80-85%, with the majority of guests being Vietnamese, a rare occurrence. With this growth momentum, the occupancy rate will continue to be maintained, or even improve, when summer officially starts.
It can be affirmed that the above results have created favorable momentum for Da Nang tourism to accelerate its breakthrough in the upcoming summer months.
According to Mr. Le Tan Thanh Tung, Deputy General Director of Vitraco Automobile Transport and Tourism Company Limited, the opportunities for summer tourism in Da Nang are quite clear as the city's space has expanded. This is coupled with a diversity of tourism products, from forests to islands and beaches. Furthermore, market fluctuations also present many opportunities as the number of local tourists and visitors from central provinces such as Hue, Quang Ngai , and Quang Tri gradually increases, supplementing the number of Vietnamese tourists from both ends of the country.
Diverse tourism products
In 2026, Da Nang city aims to welcome 19.5 million overnight visitors, including approximately 10.4 million domestic tourists. Therefore, summer is identified as the peak season for Vietnamese tourists. From the beginning of the year, the tourism industry has implemented numerous promotional activities, introducing a series of large-scale tourism stimulus programs linked to attractive events and festivals such as the Da Nang Food Tour, the Da Nang Enjoyment Festival, and DIFF 2026… The highlight is the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026, along with various festivals, culinary events, and entertainment programs organized throughout the year. This not only creates immediate appeal but also contributes to positioning Da Nang as a dynamic and modern destination.

Experts believe that the target of welcoming over 10 million Vietnamese tourists is entirely feasible, especially given Da Nang's prominent brand as a destination and its expanded tourism potential; tourists can easily combine various experiences in a single trip, from entertainment and beach resorts to nature exploration, cultural heritage sites, and culinary tourism.
Mr. Dinh Van Loc, Director of Viet Da Tourism Joint Stock Company, believes that along with the destination brand, a synchronized transportation infrastructure system is a competitive advantage for Da Nang tourism. In particular, the convenience of travel by road, air, and even private vehicles is helping Da Nang more effectively reach the Central Vietnam tourist market, creating a good foundation for the summer months.
It is evident that, with favorable conditions in terms of transportation infrastructure; diverse experiential products; high-class resort and entertainment services; a friendly and safe tourism environment; and an increasingly prominent destination brand… Da Nang has become and continues to be a favorite choice for Vietnamese tourists.
According to Mr. Le Quoc Viet, Vice President of the Da Nang Tourism Association, although the peak of summer tourism only truly begins in June, the booking rate of businesses has already started to grow, especially from tourists from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This shows that domestic tourism demand is growing significantly, promising a booming summer season.
Expanding tourism in the South
Da Nang is not only famous for its long, beautiful coastline and unique cultural heritage, but also boasts rich natural landscapes and a diverse system of revolutionary relics, concentrated mainly in the southern and western areas of the city. Mr. Le Quoc Viet believes that this is a key highlight that can attract a significant number of domestic tourists, especially those who have visited Da Nang many times and are looking for new experiences.

“Of course, there are limitations in infrastructure connectivity and the lack of a cluster of destinations, so for now, we must develop Tam Ky ward as the central hub, from which it will spread to surrounding areas. In the near future, the Da Nang Tourism Association will also conduct specific surveys of each route and destination in the south, such as the Ky Anh tunnels, the Dam River reed beds, the Monument to the Heroic Vietnamese Mother, Loc Yen ancient village, Tam Hai island…; and at the same time, coordinate with relevant parties to develop some truly attractive products suitable for the Vietnamese tourist segment,” Mr. Viet informed.
Unlike European and American tourists who prefer exploring culture and nature, Vietnamese tourists often favor products and services focused on entertainment, recreation, and relaxation. According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, domestic tourists are identified as a crucial pillar of the industry's growth. Therefore, the city will continue to work alongside businesses, implementing stimulus programs, promoting and improving service quality to provide the best possible experience for tourists. In conjunction with this, the city will also accelerate digital transformation in promotion and marketing activities; strengthen regional linkages and develop green and sustainable tourism products to enhance competitiveness and meet new tourism trends.
With positive results from the recent holiday season, coupled with the proactive efforts of the tourism industry and the business community, the Vietnamese tourist market is expected to experience a strong surge in the summer of 2026, contributing to the goal of increasing the domestic tourism market. This will further solidify Da Nang's position as a leading tourist destination on the Vietnamese tourism map.
