Equipping children with skills
From the beginning of June, wards and communes throughout the city simultaneously launched summer activities for children with many diverse programs. In An Hai ward, the 2026 summer program was kicked off with many practical activities such as organizing safe swimming classes, children's forums, training on accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, a chess tournament, and community activities for young people.
The highlight of this summer is the safe swimming program for primary school students. According to the plan, the ward will organize 360 classes for over 2,100 students at four swimming pools belonging to primary schools: Tieu La, Ngo Gia Tu, Chi Lang, and Luong The Vinh. In addition to learning basic swimming techniques, students will also access a program of 16 lessons on safe swimming as guided by the Ministry of Education and Training, contributing to improving their skills in preventing water accidents. Furthermore, communication activities on safe internet use for children are also emphasized to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills in the digital environment.

In Tam Ky ward, the 2026 Action Month for Children is being implemented with the theme "Happy, Safe, and Steadfast Children in the Digital Age". Through awareness-raising activities, the locality aims to enhance understanding of children's rights and the responsibility to protect children; while also promoting education in life skills, self-protection skills, accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, and safe and civilized use of the internet and social media.
Meanwhile, Ngu Hanh Son ward coordinated the organization of many meaningful activities for children. Mr. Ta Tu Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son ward, said that the locality focuses on raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, and organizations in the work of caring for, educating, and protecting children; building a safe, friendly, and healthy living environment for children's comprehensive development. The locality also organizes thematic sessions to guide children on self-protection skills, preventing abuse, preventing drowning, identifying violent and abusive behaviors against children in cyberspace, etc.

Diverse activities
In addition to focusing on recreational activities, many organizations also prioritize creating an environment for students to develop their talents, hone their life skills, and form positive habits during the summer.
Recently, the Da Nang Children's Palace, Branch 2, in coordination with the Tam Ky Ward Youth Union, organized a summer program for 2026 with many practical activities. A highlight was the program to award 100 free swimming lessons to underprivileged children.
Mr. Bui Thien Vy, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Children's Palace, said that the activity of providing free swimming lessons has been regularly maintained by the unit for many years, creating opportunities for children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to access safe swimming skills and prevent drowning.
"To date, the unit has awarded thousands of free swimming lessons to children and teenagers in the area, contributing to improving self-protection skills, minimizing the risk of drowning accidents, and spreading community responsibility in the care and protection of children," Mr. Vy shared.

In addition, this year's summer program at the Da Nang Children's Palace, Branch 2, continues to expand its range of activities to promote the holistic development of children. Over 200 students have registered to participate in talent classes such as chess, computer science, fine arts, piano and organ, dance, modern dance, martial arts, life skills, and swimming.
Classes are being revamped to enhance hands-on experience, focusing on the student with the motto "learning through play - playing through learning," thereby helping students develop their talents, hone their soft skills, improve their communication abilities, and boost their self-confidence.
At Nguyen Hue Secondary School (Hai Chau Ward), many summer clubs continue to be maintained free of charge to create a beneficial environment for students. In particular, the 2026 Summer Team Skills Club is designed to integrate both awareness campaigns and practical exercises.
Students are equipped with knowledge about cybersecurity, accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, and traffic accident prevention; they also practice escape skills in emergency situations. They are also trained in program hosting, entertainment, organizing group games, and other specific skills required of a youth group member.
Mr. Vo Thanh Phuoc, Principal of Nguyen Hue Secondary School, said that the school will continue to strengthen experiential activities based on the club model during the summer to create a comprehensive training environment for students. Connections with experts and partner organizations will also be promoted to improve the quality and practicality of the programs...
