Making Quang Ngai tourism more attractive.

(Quang Ngai Newspaper) - Quang Ngai's tourism industry is striving to catch up with other provinces in the region. This is because, while we've talked a lot about Quang Ngai's tourism potential, in reality, it hasn't developed as expected.

There are several fundamental issues surrounding this story that need addressing. Having only Ly Son as a "hot" tourist destination isn't enough. The initial focus of tourism on Ly Son Island was "tourism for patriotism." That slogan is very true and appropriate, but it can't be sustained for too long. When Ly Son becomes a "normal" tourist destination like many other coastal and island destinations around the world , we won't have truly suitable projects to develop it further.

Consider Jeju Island in South Korea as a tourist destination . Jeju Island is larger than Ly Son Island, but size is less important than what truly captivates visitors to both Ly Son and Jeju, making them want to return again and again. Jeju knows how to utilize even the smallest natural advantages for tourism development, such as the abundance of black stone artifacts found on the island. They also know how to market and build a strong image for the island, dubbed a "paradise resort," attracting tourists from all over the world.

Tourist destinations in Quang Ngai must span from coastal to mountainous areas, including lowland tourism. We have potential tourist spots in mountainous districts such as Ba To, Tra Bong, Son Tay, and Son Ha, but these have remained largely untapped. Mountain tourism differs from coastal and island tourism, and to capitalize on these differences, we must invest. For example, Ton Dung Lake and the grasslands in Bui Hui, Ba Trang commune (Ba To district) could become tourist destinations with a distinct mountainous character. Similarly, Ca Dam Mountain (Tra Bong district) could become a destination for exploring and enjoying the climate and local specialties of the highlands.

For Son Tay district, if you read the book "Ancient Traces on the Mountainside - A Region of Ca Dong Identity" by Dr. Nguyen Dang Vu, you will feel that this is a region full of unique characteristics, not only in nature but also in its people. The Ca Dong ethnic group lives on the mountainside, very similar to the mountainside lifestyle of the Mong people in the Dong Van karst plateau. While Dong Van and Meo Vac have become world-class tourist destinations, very few people know about Son Tay in Quang Ngai.

Quang Ngai also boasts many historical, spiritual, and educational tourist attractions, one of which is the Dang Thuy Tram tourist site. The heroine, martyr, and doctor Dang Thuy Tram is a source of pride for Quang Ngai and Vietnam. We have had the Dang Thuy Tram infirmary for a long time, which should be transformed into a Dang Thuy Tram museum. The Dang Thuy Tram infirmary, located on the mountain, should be developed into a spiritual destination for people to visit and remember her. Hopefully, after construction, this site will attract a large number of domestic and international visitors, as the world has learned about Thuy Tram's exemplary life after reading "Dang Thuy Tram's Diary," which has been translated, printed, and distributed in many countries around the world.
