At approximately 5:20 PM on May 19th, passengers on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train (traveling from Cat Linh to Ha Dong) were surprised to see water continuously dripping from the ceiling onto the passenger carriages. Some people used umbrellas for protection, while others moved to other locations.

Hanoi Metro, a limited liability company, issued a statement on the morning of May 20th stating that the cause of the water leakage in the passenger compartment was a malfunction in the air conditioning control system of train 01. The unstable drainage from the air conditioner resulted in water leaking into one passenger carriage.

According to Hanoi Metro, after receiving the information, the unit instructed the Cat Linh - Ha Dong Line 2A Operating Enterprise (Enterprise 2A) to deploy personnel to communicate with passengers and quickly resolve the issue, clean the train floor, and then arrange for the train to be taken to Phu Luong Depot for inspection and repair. Enterprise 2A invited experts to cooperate with technical staff to urgently resolve the issue completely by May 20th.

Hanoi Metro stated that the trains and technical equipment for the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line were manufactured and shipped to Vietnam in 2017. The company is preparing a report to the city, proposing permission to establish a project for the maintenance and training of technical personnel for the trains and operating equipment on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line to ensure technical safety and environmental protection.

"The water leakage from the air conditioner, causing inconvenience and unsanitary conditions for passengers in one train carriage, is a rare and undesirable incident. We sincerely apologize to our passengers," Hanoi Metro stated, hoping for passengers' understanding, empathy, and continued support.

Earlier in late February, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train experienced a power outage and stopped running. Passengers were refunded their tickets and switched to other modes of transportation.

The Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line commenced commercial operation in November 2021. This 13 km long elevated railway line passes through 12 stations. Each train has 4 carriages, carrying 960 people, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h and an operating speed of 35 km/h. The travel time for the entire line is 23 minutes.

Currently, the lowest fare for the Cat Linh - Ha Dong railway is 8,000 VND per trip, with a maximum of 15,000 VND for the entire route. A day pass (unlimited trips) costs 30,000 VND per person, while a monthly pass costs 200,000 VND for regular passengers and 100,000 VND for students, workers in industrial zones, etc.
