At around 5:20 p.m. on May 19, passengers on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train (from Cat Linh to Ha Dong) were surprised to see water continuously dripping from the ceiling onto the passenger car. Some people had to use umbrellas to cover themselves, while others moved to other locations.
On the morning of May 20, Hanoi Metro Company Limited issued a statement stating that the cause of the water flowing into the passenger compartment was a fault in the air conditioning control system of train 01. The unstable drainage of the air conditioner caused water to flow into a passenger compartment.
According to Hanoi Metro, after receiving the information, the unit directed the Cat Linh - Ha Dong Line 2A Operation Enterprise (Enterprise 2A) to arrange forces to discuss with passengers and quickly fix the problem, clean the train floor, then arrange the train to Phu Luong Depot for inspection and handling. Enterprise 2A invited experts to coordinate with technical staff to urgently fix the problem on May 20.
Hanoi Metro said that the trains and technical equipment systems on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong line have been manufactured and brought to Vietnam since 2017. The company is preparing a report to the city, proposing permission to establish a project to renovate and train technical human resources for the trains and operating equipment systems on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line to ensure technical safety and environmental protection.
"The phenomenon of water leaking from the air conditioner causing inconvenience and unhygienic conditions for passengers on a train carriage is a rare and unexpected incident. We apologize to our passengers," Hanoi Metro stated, hoping that passengers will sympathize, share, and continue to accompany and support us.
Previously, at the end of February, the Cat Linh - Ha Dong train had a problem and stopped running due to a power outage. Passengers were refunded their ticket money and transferred to another means of transport.
The Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line was put into commercial operation in November 2021. This railway line is 13 km long, running above ground through 12 stations. Each train has 4 carriages, carrying 960 people, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h and an operating speed of 35 km/h. The train takes 23 minutes to travel the entire route.
Currently, the lowest ticket price for the Cat Linh - Ha Dong railway is 8,000 VND per trip, the maximum is 15,000 VND for the entire route. The daily ticket price (unlimited trips) is 30,000 VND per person, the monthly ticket price is 200,000 VND for general passengers and 100,000 VND for students, workers in industrial parks.
