Rice crops were damaged by floods.
According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, as of October 30th, the damage caused by flooding in the Dong Thap Muoi region of the province exceeded 33 billion VND.
Specifically, nearly 2,274 hectares of rice were damaged (932.8 hectares with over 70% damage, 1,307 hectares with 30-70% damage, and 34 hectares with less than 30% damage); nearly 198 hectares of fruit trees were damaged (188.1 hectares with over 70% damage, and 9.8 hectares with 30-70% damage); and 81.4 hectares of vegetables were damaged (65.4 hectares with over 70% damage, and 16 hectares with 30-70% damage).
Fruit trees were damaged by the flood.
In addition, 12.1 hectares of aquaculture farms and 200 houses were flooded, and 3 roads were damaged, flooded, or subsided.
Given the rapidly rising floodwaters, in some communes in the Dong Thap Muoi region where rice fields are threatened by flooding, the People's Committees of these communes have proactively deployed forces and coordinated with the people to reinforce flood control dikes.
Specifically, Vinh Chau commune reinforced 179km (32 enclosed areas), protecting nearly 8,000 hectares of rice; Khanh Hung commune reinforced 9.8km (8 enclosed areas), protecting approximately 1,240 hectares of rice; Tan Thanh commune reinforced 61.5km (45 enclosed areas), protecting 5,400 hectares of rice and other crops; Thanh Phuoc commune reinforced approximately 50km (11 enclosed areas); and Moc Hoa commune reinforced approximately 18.6km (16 embankment lines), protecting 1,684 hectares of rice.

Local authorities are reinforcing dikes to protect rice crops.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment regularly monitors flood and weather conditions, and natural disasters as provided by specialized agencies, in order to provide timely guidance in responding to, preventing, and mitigating damage caused by natural disasters; it also organizes reports on flood levels and the impact of flooding in the communes of the Dong Thap Muoi region so that relevant agencies, units, and localities can understand the situation and provide guidance accordingly.
