'Spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024 Charity Tet' and 'Zero-VND Tet Market' come to Can Tho people

1,100 gift packages and 4.5 tons of rice from businesses, philanthropists, and religious organizations were donated to the poor on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024 (Year of the Dragon).

The "Compassionate Tet" movement is a continuation of the "Tet for the Poor and Victims of Agent Orange" movement launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee . The movement aims to mobilize and widely connect the participation and contributions of the business community, philanthropists, and religious organizations to care for the poor, the elderly, and orphaned children with loving gifts during the traditional Lunar New Year.

In addition, the Thoi Lai District Red Cross Society also provided 1,000 free meals; medical examinations and medicine to more than 500 poor and sick people in the district. Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuc, Head of the District Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thoi Lai District, said: During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024, the district provided budget-funded gifts to 7,610 beneficiaries, including war veterans and poor households, totaling over 7.8 billion VND; and socialized support for near-poor households, ethnic minority households, and the elderly... with more than 6,000 gifts worth over 3.1 billion VND, ensuring that every family and every person could celebrate Tet.

Residents of Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city, participate in the "Charitable Tet program for the Year of the Dragon 2024".

Earlier on February 1st, at the Can Tho City Labor Union Cultural Center, the "Charitable Tet Program for the Year of the Dragon 2024," themed "Zero-Cost Tet Market - Warming Hearts in Spring," distributed 350 gift packages, each worth 1 million VND, including a 500,000 VND lucky money envelope, 10 kg of rice, a bag of essential goods, vegetables, and fruits, directly to families in difficult circumstances. In addition, the "Zero-Cost Tet Market - Warming Hearts in Spring" also featured 10 free service stalls offering services such as calligraphy, health consultations, and free haircuts, totaling over 300 million VND. Of this, the Can Tho Buddhist Temple contributed 300 gift packages and one Red Cross house, worth a total of 140 million VND.

"Zero-Cost Tet Market - Warming Hearts This Spring" saw 350 gift packages delivered directly to underprivileged families.

This is also the third market event, with a scale of 1,000 gift packages, organized by the Red Cross Society at Vinh Thanh market in Phong Dien district and in the center of Can Tho city. On this occasion, the People's Committee of Can Tho city also awarded certificates of merit to units and individuals who have made significant contributions to the city's social welfare work.
