Tevez scores 4 goals, Old Trafford still boos

Carlos Tevez scored a spectacular poker in just 15 minutes, helping World XI come from behind to beat the Great Britain All-Stars team 5-4 at the Soccer Aid 2025 match on the evening of June 15.

Tevez returned to Old Trafford in Soccer Aid 2025 in an unexpected way: scoring four goals in just 15 minutes. But instead of applause, the former Argentine striker was met with boos from the same crowd that once cheered him on.

Tevez, 41, is no stranger to the Theatre of Dreams, where he played for Manchester United from 2007-2009 and won six trophies, including two Premier League titles and one Champions League. However, his move to cross-town rivals Manchester City in 2009 left him viewed as a "traitor" by the Red Devils' fans.

When Tevez's name was read out before he came on in the second half, the boos that rang out from the stands were a testament to the vivid memory. The Great Britain All-Stars were leading 2-0, but things turned around quickly. Tevez scored four of the World XI's five goals - including a stunner from 20 yards - and each was met with a furious reaction from the crowd.

Notably, after the fourth goal, when World XI took a 5-4 lead thanks to the decisive goal from TV chef Big Zuu, Tevez caused controversy with a brutal foul, pulling down Aaron Lennon when the former England international was facing the goal. Instead of a red card, the referee just laughed and let... Lennon give Tevez a yellow card in a truly Soccer Aid-style atmosphere.

Tevez responded to the crowd by clasping his hands to his ears and pointing to the back of his shirt in defiance. But that only seemed to invite more boos.

Carlos Tevez brother 1

Carlos Tevez attracted attention on his return to Old Trafford.

For the All-Stars, Wayne Rooney opened the scoring and Toni Duggan doubled the lead. Jermain Defoe scored twice in the second half, but the final stage belonged to Tevez - who has scored 84 goals in 201 Premier League games, and is still proving his class at the age of 41.

Despite being a charity match, this year's Soccer Aid was not without drama - and Tevez, once again, took centre stage, true to the "villain" image that has followed him throughout his career.
