From July 16th to 30th, 2023, more than 60 officers and soldiers of Battalion 40, Regiment 762, Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command conducted a field exercise to carry out civilian outreach work and participate in building new rural areas in Thanh Yen commune (Thach Thanh district).

The bond between the military and the people will last forever. Regiment 762, Provincial Military Command, is dredging canals and clearing waterways in Thanh Yen commune (Thach Thanh district).

Thanh Yen is a particularly disadvantaged mountainous commune in Thach Thanh district, located 29 km west of the district center. The commune comprises 5 villages, 925 households, and 3,760 inhabitants, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for 97.5%. The people here live together harmoniously and peacefully, relying on agriculture and forestry, but infrastructure is still lacking, and income remains low. Following a survey, the Provincial Military Command directed Regiment 762 to conduct a field exercise and civilian outreach work in Yen Son 1 and Yen Son 2 villages, Thanh Yen commune, helping the locality complete some tasks in the criteria for building new rural areas. With the motto "Speak so the people understand, act so the people believe, guide the people to implement," the officers and soldiers of Battalion 40, Regiment 762, implemented the "three together" principle – eating together, living together, and working together with the local people.

During their community outreach activities in the locality, despite the harsh hot weather, thanks to the attention of the Party Committee and the government, the coordination of the commune and village organizations, and especially the active participation of the people, the officers and soldiers of Regiment 762 actively worked to help the people dredge irrigation canals, clean village roads and alleys; organize leveling and pouring concrete at locations such as: the physical education playground of Thanh Yen Commune Primary School with a total area of nearly 700m2; the grandstand and courtyard of the Yen Son 1 village cultural house with a total area of 150m2; and the residential road in the two villages of Yen Son 1 and Yen Son 2 with a total length of more than 400m. The unit also organized the consolidation and cleaning of the living quarters and living areas of the soldiers at 14 households; and renovated the landscape of the two village cultural houses in Yen Son 1 and Yen Son 2. The unit constructed 12 new flowerbeds and planted many new trees. The soldiers provided free haircuts, medical check-ups, consultations, and medication to 46 local residents; and presented gifts to 10 families of policy beneficiaries, war invalids, sick soldiers, and families with meritorious service to the revolution (each gift worth 300,000 VND). In addition, the officers and soldiers of the Regiment also organized propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage the people to comply with the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, actively increase production, eradicate hunger and poverty, and effectively implement the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement, preserving the good traditional cultural values of the locality. Furthermore, the unit coordinated with the local youth union and women's association to organize sports exchanges and a cultural exchange night titled "The Enduring Bond Between Soldiers and Civilians," leaving a deep impression and lasting affection. These practical and meaningful activities help to strengthen the bond between the military and the people, leaving a deep impression and affection in the hearts of the local people. Moved by the soldiers' actions, many villagers joined the soldiers to speed up the progress of the tasks. Many families even provided accommodation, meals, and living facilities for the soldiers...

The bond between the military and the people will last forever. Officers and soldiers of Regiment 762 leveled the ground and poured concrete for the physical education playground at Thanh Yen Primary School (Thach Thanh).

Comrade Truong Thanh Thao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Yen commune, expressed his delight: “The people of Thanh Yen commune are truly grateful and moved by the affection that the officers and soldiers of Regiment 762 have shown to the locality. As a particularly disadvantaged commune, the assistance of the unit's officers and soldiers in improving the transportation and irrigation systems, environmental sanitation, and raising people's awareness in complying with the Party's policies and the State's laws is an important driving force for the locality to resolutely implement the targets and tasks of socio -economic development and poverty reduction. Through this, we also admire even more the beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers.”

Sharing his experience with us, Private Do Quy Loc, Company 1, Battalion 40, Regiment 762, said: “This is the first time I have participated in a field exercise and civilian outreach work with my unit. I am very honored to have undertaken this mission, because it not only helps us understand the customs and traditions of the local people but also allows us to feel the affection of the people, who love us like their own children, helping with food and shelter, and providing both material and spiritual encouragement.”

Major Bui Van Thang, Political Officer of Battalion 40, Regiment 762, stated: “Officers and soldiers have closely followed the directives and guidance of their superiors, developed plans, done a good job of preparation, and organized close coordination with local authorities. At the same time, Party committees and commanders at all levels have done a good job of educating and instilling determination in officers and soldiers to be ready to accept and successfully complete the field exercise and civilian outreach work in 2023.”
