Establishment of Vietnam Lion Dance Federation

The Congress also elected Dr. Pham Quang Long - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the IVS Vietnam International School System to the position of Chairman of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation, Term I.

The new General Secretary Le Quoc Huy said that the Federation was established with the goal of mobilizing maximum resources from organizations and individuals at home and abroad to promote the movement to develop more and more strongly, improve people's health and life, meet the training and entertainment needs of all classes of people in society; enhance the position and achievements of Vietnamese Lion Dance in general in regional, continental and world arenas. The Vietnam Lion Dance Federation will aim to build and develop the Lion Dance movement throughout the country, improve international achievements, in line with the development trend of society, gradually integrating the Lion Dance with the region, continent and the world.

The congress was recently held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The new President of the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation also affirmed that the Lion Dance has been developing widely all over the world, but through that sport, to convey the values of life, human ethics and to light up hope for everyone is the truly noble thing. "I believe that the Congress to establish the Vietnam Lion Dance Federation will be a great milestone for the Lion Dance in Vietnam", said Dr. Pham Quang Long.

Lion Dance is a unique folk art form with a long tradition in Vietnam and is still being maintained and developed strongly in provinces and cities across the country. Lion Dance is favored by many social classes, especially when performed in the first days of the new year, at traditional festivals or celebration activities. Currently, this form has been elevated to a very popular form of collective sports competition. At the 9th National Sports Festival, Lion Dance became an official competition, loved by many fans.
