
The conference focused on evaluating the results of coordinated activities between the two Associations in 2025, and outlining directions for coordinated activities in 2026; exchanging experiences on people-to-people friendship activities between provinces sharing a common border; and facilitating exchanges between businesses and business clubs of the two Associations, contributing to further strengthening the friendship between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia in the new context.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly , and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association; and Ms. Samdech Men Sam An, Vice Chairwoman of the Cambodian People's Party, Chairwoman of the National Council of the Cambodian Fatherland Front for Solidarity and Development, and Chairwoman of the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association, co-chaired the conference.
According to Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh: In 2025, the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to be strengthened and developed well. In this context, people-to-people diplomacy and coordination between the two associations will continue to play an important role as a bridge, contributing to consolidating a solid social foundation for the relationship between the two countries.
"These results further affirm the important significance of people-to-people diplomacy in fostering solidarity, traditional friendship, and enhancing understanding and trust between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia; and at the same time, they serve as a foundation and valuable experience for the two Associations to continue improving the quality of coordinated activities in the future," Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized.
In unifying the activities for the last six months of 2026 and 2027 – commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967), a historical milestone in the relations between the two countries – Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized: The two Associations will continue to coordinate and effectively implement several key tasks, namely: further promoting information dissemination and education on the tradition of solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia to members and all strata of people in both countries, especially the younger generation, with practical content and diverse, appropriate forms; and at the same time, raising awareness and vigilance against false and distorted information aimed at dividing the relations between the two countries.
In addition, both sides will strengthen exchanges of delegations and friendly exchanges between associations at all levels, especially in border localities; continue to coordinate the implementation of social welfare activities and community support, especially in border areas, remote areas, areas with many difficulties, and areas affected by natural disasters and epidemics in each country. Both sides will continue to effectively implement the Friendship Nurturing Program, paying attention to supporting Cambodian and Vietnamese students studying in each country; and continue to promote economic cooperation, creating favorable conditions for businesses and localities of both countries to expand investment and trade cooperation in areas suitable to the needs and potential of each side.

Speaking at the conference, Samdech Men Sam An noted that relations between the two countries have developed very well over the years. Both sides have promoted cooperation in many fields, including politics, diplomacy, defense, security, economics, trade, tourism, culture, and science. Cambodia expresses its deep gratitude for Vietnam's valuable support and assistance in the past and present. The Cambodian people will never forget the immense sacrifices of Vietnamese experts and volunteers in helping liberate Cambodia from the genocidal regime.
According to Ms. Samdech Men Sam An, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association have played an important role in promoting people-to-people diplomacy through various activities such as delegation exchanges, cultural exchanges, social and humanitarian work; and connecting youth, women, and entrepreneurs. In the future, both sides will continue to strengthen cooperation, focusing on consolidating people-to-people friendship; promoting economic, trade, tourism, and investment activities; and supporting social and humanitarian work to nurture the future generation of youth.

At the Conference, delegates exchanged views and agreed on strengthening the implementation of social welfare activities and community support, especially in border areas, remote and disadvantaged regions, and areas affected by natural disasters and epidemics. Both sides effectively implemented the Friendship Nurturing Program, supporting Cambodian and Vietnamese students studying in each country; promoted community support activities and economic cooperation, creating conditions for businesses and localities of both countries to expand investment and trade cooperation in areas suitable to the needs and potential of each side.
Thanks to the Association's active efforts, trade turnover between Vietnam and Cambodia increased to US$11 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach US$20 billion in the future, in line with the commitments of the leaders of both countries. Vietnam is currently Cambodia's second largest trading partner and its largest trading partner in ASEAN. To date, Vietnam has 219 active investment projects in Cambodia with a total registered capital of US$2.95 billion, ranking among the top five ASEAN investors with direct investment in Cambodia. Cambodia currently has 34 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of over US$61 million, ranking 51st among foreign investors investing in Vietnam.
