In Phu Yen, teacher Nguyen Bao Toan was always on hand to pick up and drop off a student who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a traffic accident.

Over a month ago, Van Thi Kim Thi, a 12th-grade student at Le Trung Kien High School in Dong Hoa town, was involved in a traffic accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. After treatment, Thi has difficulty walking, has an unstable mental state, and rarely interacts with her friends.

According to Mr. Toan, the vice principal, after the accident, the school's teachers went to encourage the student, but she absolutely refused to take the graduation exam. Therefore, he went to her house again, shared his thoughts and advised her, and she finally agreed.

To put his mind at ease, Mr. Toan has been personally driving his students to and from the exam rooms for the past few days, and, along with volunteers, has been taking care of their health.

"It's not just Thi; I've supported many students, and my wish is for them to achieve good results so they can get into university," Mr. Toan said.

According to the teacher, this year, there were no cases of students dropping out of the high school graduation exam at Le Trung Kien High School. The school and its affiliated organizations always have plans in place to handle any unusual situations that may occur outside the examination grounds and within the examination centers; they also arrange security personnel to protect the exam papers and answer sheets on the examination days as per regulations.

Mr. Vo Tan Truong, 47 years old, Thi's father, said he has three children, and Thi is the eldest. Before the traffic accident, Thi was well-behaved, a good student, and helped her parents with household chores. He recounted that his daughter once promised to get into university, but now what he wishes for is for her to be healthy and strong throughout her treatment.

The 2023 high school graduation exam in Phu Yen had 10,500 candidates. Many candidates said the exam was of moderate difficulty and that they could achieve a good score if they had a solid grasp of basic knowledge. The exam results were announced at 8:00 AM on July 18th.
