According to the business results report for the first eight months of 2024 recently released by Mobile World Investment Corporation (stock code MWG), despite closing 70 stores in the Mobile World, An Khang, Dien May Xanh, and Ava Kids chains, the company opened 17 new Bach Hoa Xanh stores and 6 EraBlue stores (a joint venture in Indonesia).
Despite having the highest number of store closures in August, An Khang accounted for only a very small proportion of Mobile World Group's total revenue.
According to the company's revenue structure as of August 2024, the Dien May Xanh chain accounts for the highest percentage with 45.7% of total revenue. This is followed by the Bach Hoa Xanh chain with 30.4%, the The Gioi Dien May chain (including Topzone) with 21.2%, and the remaining chains (including An Khang) only account for 2.7% of total revenue.
Previously, the company stated that the stores were being closed due to poor business performance. The closures were aimed at optimizing revenue for the chains within the system.
As a result, according to the report, the cumulative total revenue of all Mobile World Group's chains after the first 8 months of the year reached VND 87,967 billion, an increase of more than VND 11,000 billion compared to July 2024 and a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.
In August 2024 alone, the total revenue of the Mobile World (including Topzone) and Dien May Xanh chains reached nearly 7,500, an increase of 5% compared to the previous month and a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the company's explanation, the growth was driven by the mobile phone segment, which saw positive month-on-month growth, along with the air conditioner segment. In particular, the laptop segment witnessed double-digit growth during the back-to-school season thanks to ample supply and attractive promotional programs.
Similarly, the Bach Hoa Xanh chain achieved revenue of over 3,600 billion VND in August 2024, a slight improvement compared to the previous month and a 25% increase compared to the same month last year.
The average revenue per Bach Hoa Xanh store remained at 2.1 billion VND. The increase in revenue was due to contributions from both the fresh produce and fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
