Destroy pigs infected with African Swine Fever.
According to the Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries, the current weather situation is extremely complex, with hot weather combined with heavy rain, creating favorable conditions for the rapid spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) virus. The disease is currently showing a tendency to gradually shift towards the former Vinh Phuc area. However, the Department believes the outbreak has not yet peaked, so local authorities in the province are strengthening inspection and control of pig slaughter, transportation of pigs and pig products to prevent further spread of the disease.
To prevent, control, and manage African Swine Fever (ASF) effectively and promptly in the province, livestock farmers and residents need to strictly comply with the local government's regulations on disease prevention and control: Do not conceal outbreaks; do not trade or transport sick or dead pigs; do not slaughter or consume sick or dead pigs; do not dispose of dead pigs into the environment; and do not use leftover food that has not been heat-treated to feed pigs.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that local authorities, functional forces, and specialized agencies: resolutely handle and destroy pigs infected or suspected of being infected with the disease; proactively implement policies to support livestock farmers who suffer losses due to the disease in accordance with the law; prevent and resolutely handle cases of buying, selling, and transporting sick pigs, and discarding dead pigs that spread the disease and pollute the environment.
Strengthen management, patrol, control, and supervision of the transportation of pigs and pig products; organize the prevention and strict handling of cases of illegal transportation of pigs and pig products into wards and communes; detect and strictly handle cases of trading, transporting, and slaughtering pigs that do not meet the requirements for disease prevention and control and food safety.
Intensify information and communication efforts through various means regarding the dangerous nature of African Swine Fever (ASF), the risk of disease recurrence and spread, disease prevention measures, and the use of ASF vaccines for fattening pigs according to the guidelines of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
