According to Tri Thức - Znews' investigation, CAHN is currently in negotiations with defender Brandon Ly, a player for Burnley's U21 team. If this deal is successful, Brandon Ly will be the next overseas Vietnamese player to join CAHN and the V.League.
The fact that the Vietnamese-born player, born in 2005, joined CAHN is not surprising. The police football team had previously stated that their goal was to bring players of Vietnamese descent back to contribute to Vietnamese football. Meanwhile, Brandon Ly has a Vietnamese father and a mother from the Republic of Ireland.
The player himself has revealed to the press his desire to return to Vietnam and play football in his father's homeland. It is known that he will return to Vietnam soon to handle personal matters. It is highly likely that this will be an opportunity for Brandon Ly to visit the CAHN headquarters before proceeding with further work.
Brandon Ly, born in 2005, stands at 1.72 meters tall and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder. However, thanks to his strong situational awareness and solid physical fitness, he can also fill the roles of central midfielder or right-back when needed.
Brandon Ly began his career at the Sheffield United Academy. In late November 2023, he was loaned to Burnley's U18 team. In his first start against Birmingham City U18, Brandon Ly delivered an impressive performance, playing a crucial role in Burnley's victory on penalties, thus advancing to the quarter-finals.
Having proven his abilities while playing for Burnley's youth team, in January 2024, Brandon Ly left Sheffield United to join Burnley. There, he was quickly promoted to the U21 team and continued his professional development in the highly competitive environment of English football.
Previously, CAHN successfully granted Vietnamese citizenship to goalkeeper Nguyen Filip and defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh. These two players are establishing themselves in the V.League market.
