With its potential and advantages, including numerous industrial zones and a well-developed transportation system, Thien Ke commune has favorable conditions for developing various types of service and trade activities.
According to Nguyen Huu Manh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thien Ke commune: "In recent times, the commune has implemented many solutions to leverage its existing potential and strengths in economic development. As a result, the appearance of the countryside has always improved, infrastructure has been invested in and built synchronously, the economic structure has shifted in a positive direction, and the lives of the people have been increasingly enhanced."
In particular, the service and trade sector in the area has grown rapidly in recent times, mainly focusing on business models combining rental housing, food services, and grocery sales. Currently, there are more than 8,600 rental houses, 845 service businesses, and 65 private enterprises operating in the area, creating jobs and stable income for many local workers.
To achieve these outstanding results, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune have always encouraged and created favorable conditions for businesses and people to invest in and expand models of renting out rooms, restaurants, etc. They have focused on promoting and mobilizing people to open more diverse types of services to serve the needs of thousands of workers living and working in industrial zones in the area.
In addition, the People's Committee of the commune regularly directs organizations and associations to coordinate with the Social Policy Bank to actively support people with loans for economic development. To date, the total outstanding loan balance of the Social Policy Bank in the area has reached over 15.5 billion VND, with 199 loan recipients.
Leading us on a tour of the local people's lodging area in Thien Ke village, Vice Chairman of Thien Ke Commune People's Committee Vu Dinh Long said: "With the economic recovery, a large number of workers from businesses in industrial zones have returned to work, leading to a high demand for lodging."
In Thien Ke village alone, there are nearly 4,000 rental rooms, almost all of which are currently occupied; this is not including the various services that have benefited from these rental properties, which have brought high income to local residents. Besides income from renting out rooms, out of 600 households in Thien Ke village, more than 500 have members working as factory workers in industrial zones. The remaining villagers take advantage of this by opening small businesses at home, which also provides a stable monthly income.
In Thien Ke commune, many boarding house models have emerged, featuring convenient, self-contained rooms ranging from 2 to 5 floors, generating high incomes. Examples include the boarding house owned by Mr. Tran Van Thuong in Ngu Ho village with 60 self-contained rooms; and the boarding house owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Hang in Thien Ke village with 20 self-contained rooms, fully equipped. Currently, the average rental price per room is over 1 million VND/month, providing a significant source of income for the residents.
Mr. Tran Van Thuong shared: "Thanks to the large plot of land, my family borrowed capital to invest in two multi-story apartment buildings with 60 self-contained rooms for workers to rent. In addition, we opened a convenience store to serve the workers here. After deducting all expenses from operation to security fees, the family earns more than 70 million VND per month."
In Thien Ke commune, people not only rely on rental housing services, but also on thriving businesses catering to workers in industrial zones.
Mr. Do Manh Dung, owner of an electrical and plumbing supplies store in the Vinh Phuong resettlement area, said: "When we first moved to the new area, many households who gave up their land for the construction of the industrial park were confused and worried about what they would do to make a living."
However, as businesses started operating, the demand for construction and goods in this area was enormous. Taking advantage of the opportunity, my family borrowed capital to open a store selling electrical and plumbing supplies. The business was successful, and the store has now expanded to twice its original size, creating jobs for three local workers.
Thanks to its convenient geographical location, the store not only serves local residents but also supplies electrical and plumbing materials to businesses in the Thang Long Vinh Phuc Industrial Park and people in the surrounding areas.
