The selection of a specialized hospital is an effort by the organizing committee to establish a robust and professional medical protection system aimed at raising safety standards at large-scale, world-class sporting events in Vietnam.
With its particular strengths in emergency care, resuscitation, and pre-hospital emergency services, Bach Mai Hospital has built a dense medical support system along the entire race route. Accordingly, Bach Mai Hospital will establish 21 medical stations along the race route to provide the fastest access to athletes and timely initial emergency care for those experiencing health problems.
The medical staff on duty at these 21 stations are all trained in pre-hospital emergency care, equipped with basic skills for first aid treatment; and able to promptly report to the medical team leader to dispatch an ambulance in case of emergency.

Under the direction of Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Giap - Deputy Director of Bach Mai Hospital, 80 medical personnel, including doctors and nurses who have received thorough training in pre-hospital emergency care, will directly participate in the mission.
Medical personnel on duty at the event are also trained and certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) according to US standards to respond promptly to the most dangerous complications, especially cardiac arrest (if any). The medical and logistics teams are also fully equipped with medications and modern emergency equipment.
To ensure the safety of the tournament, the organizing committee and Bach Mai Hospital will also provide 8 ambulances fully equipped with modern emergency and resuscitation equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, monitors, and oxygen systems, ready to respond quickly to any situation.
Ten private hospital beds will also be prepared at specialized units such as the Cardiovascular Institute; A9 Emergency Center; Poison Control Center; Stroke Center; and Intensive Care Unit, ready for cases requiring specialized intervention.
The organizers also planned to coordinate with the Hanoi Department of Health and satellite hospitals to ensure the ability to transport and receive patients at the nearest hospitals in emergency situations.
Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Giap – Deputy Director of the hospital, said, “Bach Mai Hospital has surveyed and established a network of checkpoints and points to provide the quickest access to athletes with health problems throughout the race, thereby handling incidents as quickly and effectively as possible, in accordance with regulations.”
For athletes, when health problems arise, time is of the essence. Therefore, if we do things right and properly from the start, we can restore their health, and even save their lives.”

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Giap also shared, “We thank the organizing unit – DHA Vietnam Company – for trusting and choosing Bach Mai Hospital as their healthcare partner. This is not just a race, but also an opportunity for us to promote a peaceful, safe, and friendly Vietnam, and more importantly, a Vietnam with a healthcare system that meets international standards.”
To date, the Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon 2025 has completed all preparations and is ready to welcome athletes on the official race day, November 8-9.
Notably, the 2025 season will see a dramatic increase in the number of international athletes, reaching 2,500 from nearly 70 countries, almost double the number from the 2024 season.
These impressive figures demonstrate the stature of the Standard Chartered Hanoi Heritage Marathon 2025, a race with the largest number of international athletes and the largest number of full and half marathon runners in Vietnam, affirming its strong appeal and the opportunity for Vietnamese marathons to reach international standards and achieve greater standardization.
Last year's event attracted 18,000 participants. This year's race is expected to attract a large number of participants from the Vietnamese running community as well.
