On May 24, Fox News reported that Tehran had, in principle, agreed to a framework agreement, and that the deal was 95% complete. "We have reached an agreement on the nuclear arsenal and the Strait of Hormuz, but we are negotiating the wording. We haven't reached an agreement yet. We will not sign the agreement today or tomorrow," Fox News quoted a source as saying.
According to officials who spoke to Fox News, U.S. President Donald Trump is "leaning toward giving Iran another five, six, or seven days" to finalize a deal. If Washington fails to reach a favorable agreement, the U.S. military could resume bombing Iran.

The official also confirmed that the "No radioactive fallout, no USD" policy is the guiding principle of the negotiations. He also revealed that Iran has "agreed in principle to the framework agreement and we have completed 95% of the process."
Essentially, the U.S. is demanding that Iran abandon and hand over all nuclear materials or enriched uranium before the U.S. will lift sanctions and release frozen assets to Tehran.
"We certainly won't accept a bad deal. We have options and can resume military attacks if no agreement is reached," the official said.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also emphasized that the US administration does not rule out the possibility of resuming the campaign against Iran if its goals are not achieved through negotiations with Tehran.
"President Trump wants to ensure that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons. He wants to resolve this issue through diplomatic negotiations , and we will seize every opportunity to do so," Rubio stated.
At the same time, President Trump instructed negotiators "not to rush into an agreement" and stressed that "time is on our side."
He wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that the US blockade of Iranian ships in the Strait of Hormuz “remains in full effect until an agreement is reached, certified, and signed.” “Both sides must take their time and get things right,” Trump said.
Currently, the Iranian government has not immediately responded to Trump's statement. However, the Tasnim news agency reports that the US is still obstructing some provisions of the potential agreement, including Tehran's demand for the release of frozen funds.
