TPO - The project to collect fees for temporary use of sidewalks in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria City, and Phu My town, combined with the installation of security cameras and traffic monitoring systems, and surveillance cameras in public areas, aims to create a sense of security for tourists.
According to Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has issued a plan to implement the "Year of Urban Beautification" from April 2023 to June 2025 with many specific activities, carried out synchronously and continuously.
Accordingly, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province selected Con Dao district to build a model district for urban renovation; Vung Tau city, Ba Ria city, and Phu My town each selected at least two wards to build model units for urban renovation. The remaining districts each selected at least one town to build a model unit for urban renovation.
This plan aims to launch a movement to effectively carry out tasks related to urban beautification, urban order, and the construction and development of the image of urban areas in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for domestic and international tourists , contributing to the development of high-quality tourism.
Through implementation, urban beautification, environmental sanitation, and ensuring urban order have seen positive changes. Urban beautification projects have been accelerated; many localities have implemented solutions to upgrade, renovate, and beautify public spaces, creating impressive public areas that attract tourists and residents, especially during holidays and festivals.

Along with that, urban order management has been strengthened; model roads and beautiful urban beautification models have been built; and people's awareness of building a cultured and civilized urban lifestyle has been increasingly raised.
Through the implementation of many good models and practices, these have been disseminated to the grassroots level, such as the "Green Sunday" model of Vung Tau City; the "Recycling Waste Collection" model of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Youth Union...
Notably, several major projects directly serving tourism are receiving attention and are being focused on implementation, including the detailed planning of the Thuy Van - Bai Sau axis in Vung Tau; the organization of a night market service area in Ba Ria City; a night street and sea-view bridge in Xuyen Moc; and a public beach park in Ho Tram, etc.
At the same time, the project to collect fees for temporary use of sidewalks in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria City, and Phu My town, combined with the installation of security cameras and traffic monitoring systems, and surveillance cameras in public areas, contributes significantly to ensuring traffic safety and public order, creating a sense of security for tourists and residents in the area.
However, despite the achievements, there are still some shortcomings in Ba Ria - Vung Tau that need to be addressed. These include the problem of cars parking on roads with "no parking" signs, on sidewalks, especially in apartment complexes, and in front of some restaurants, eateries, and cafes.
Public parking lot construction projects are progressing very slowly, especially during holidays and weekends in Vung Tau City. Some localities have not effectively implemented the scheme to collect fees for temporary sidewalk use, leading to recurring sidewalk encroachment.
Illegal construction of buildings and individual houses, construction on agricultural land, illegal construction within the protected area of irrigation works, and illegal construction in forest land still occur in some localities but have not been completely resolved. Particularly in some industrial zones and clusters, construction still occurs before completing land procedures, without permits, or in violation of permits.
