"Capital of the wood industry" Binh Dinh promotes investment and export

On the morning of March 9, the opening ceremony of the international outdoor fashion fair Quy Nhon 3 (Q-FAIR 2024) was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and People's Committee of Binh Dinh province in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh). . 

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee emphasized that Binh Dinh has a provincial forest and forestry land area of ​​415.700 hectares, with forest coverage reaching more than 57%. Currently, this province has a project to develop large timber trees for the period 2016-2025, with an orientation to 2035. The entire province has now developed nearly 10.000 hectares of large timber tree forests, 15.000 hectares of forests are certified for sustainable forest management. sustainability (FSC). 

It is expected that by 2025, the total area of ​​large timber tree forests in the province will reach 10.000 hectares, with nearly 16.000 hectares of FSC forests. By 2030, the province will develop 50.000 hectares of planted forests to produce large timber trees...

Mr. Tuan said: Along with the orientation of developing large timber plantations, Binh Dinh is also one of the localities with the largest wood processing and export activities in the country, known as one of the "capitals of the country". wood industry" of the country, is one of the centers for developing industrial clusters in wood processing and forest products. There is great room for development of the wood industry, because the province meets the following conditions: Favorable location as the gateway to the Central Highlands, closely connected to raw material areas connected to Quy Nhon seaport.

Statistics show that Binh Dinh has the largest number of wood processing factories in the country, concentrated in Phu Tai Industrial Park and Long My Industrial Park, with about 300 active wood processing enterprises, of which 245 businesses have come into operation, with a total investment capital of about 12.000 billion VND. At the same time, the human resource for the wood processing industry is large-scale, with the majority being highly skilled workers.

“The main processed products are interior, exterior, garden furniture and other products (such as chips and pellets). Main consumer markets: US, EU, UK, Australia, Japan.... Some product groups have large turnover values, playing an important role in the wood industry development strategy in Binh Dinh and the whole country," Mr. Tuan emphasized.

Not stopping at the results achieved, Binh Dinh proposed a strategy to develop the wood industry combined with a new method of organizing production according to the value chain from afforestation to processing and consumption associated with promoting the attraction of projects. Deep processing, export production. The province aims to become a high-tech forest product processing center of the Region.

Right at this first wood industry fair, Binh Dinh expects to promote trade in the wood industry and seek new cooperation between provincial and national businesses and the world. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, assessed that wood and outdoor furniture export fairs are a proactive, flexible and creative solution to finding markets... According to leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, by 2023, Vietnam's export value of wood and forest products will reach 14,5 billion USD, exported to 140 countries and territories. In 2024, the outlook for domestic wood exports is quite positive with the first 2 months of the year reaching over 2 billion USD, the whole country reaching the annual export value target of 15 billion USD. 

The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that the wood processing and export industry has now become an important and key industry in the Vietnamese economy. Each year the export value reaches over 10 billion USD, making our country the 5th largest exporter of wooden furniture and wooden products in the world, 2nd in Asia and leading among Southeast Asian countries. In particular, Binh Dinh province has contributed greatly to the country's wood industry, becoming one of the four centers with the largest number of wood export enterprises in the country.
