Accordingly, at some markets in Vi Thuy district and Vi Thanh city, the prices of freshwater seafood have not fluctuated much, although the continuous rain and rising flood waters have not affected the prices much.

Prices of freshwater seafood are stable and in high demand.

Specifically, the price of perch ranges from 30,000-80,000 VND/kg, snakehead fish from 100,000-180,000 VND/kg, depending on the type; while the price of yellow catfish, shrimp, frogs, and eels ranges from 80,000-230,000 VND/kg, depending on the size. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, a trader at Vi Thanh rural market, said: “At this time, people's purchasing power is quite high, by about 10 am my stall will be sold out, people mainly buy perch and snakehead fish, few people are willing to buy farmed fish. However, I think in the next few months, when people in the province harvest the autumn-winter rice crop, drain ditches and ponds, the price of some types of freshwater fish may decrease slightly.”
