Proactively plan revision sessions for students.
This year, students registering for the 10th grade entrance exam will take three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language. The exam will take place from May 22nd to 25th, earlier than in previous years. This school year, Sao Nam Secondary School (Hai Chau Ward) has 156 9th-grade students participating in the 10th-grade entrance exam. Mr. Nong Van Thuan, the school principal, said that the registration rate reached 100%, demonstrating the students' proactive spirit, determination, and clear understanding of their academic direction after graduating from secondary school.
However, during the review process, some students still faced difficulties, especially psychological pressure due to the early exam period and some students having limited foundational knowledge. In response to this, the school implemented several comprehensive solutions such as organizing group tutoring, strengthening school psychological counseling, and closely coordinating with parents to monitor and support students effectively and promptly.
In addition, the school has increased the teaching and review time for key exam subjects such as Mathematics, Literature, and English, ensuring that students are fully equipped with both knowledge and skills. Simultaneously, a system of review questions has been developed and numerous mock tests have been conducted following the exact exam structure of the Department of Education. After each test, teachers provide detailed feedback, guide students on how to answer questions, and how to allocate time effectively, thereby helping them gradually improve their abilities and confidence.
At this time, many other junior high schools in Da Nang are also accelerating review and consolidation of knowledge for 9th-grade students. Mr. Huynh Duy Linh, Principal of Nguyen Luong Bang Junior High School (Lien Chieu ward), said that this year the school expects about 540 9th-grade students to participate in the entrance exam for 10th grade.
To prepare the students psychologically, the school proactively developed a review plan for 9th-grade students from the end of the first semester and informed parents during parent-teacher meetings. Based on parental registrations, the school organized review classes from the beginning of March, so the process was not largely unprepared. In the coming time, the school will hold parent-teacher meetings to discuss enrollment procedures and guide parents on registering their children for the exam. Simultaneously, a mock test is planned for May 9th, 2026, to help students familiarize themselves with the exam structure and consolidate their knowledge before the official exam.

Get ready for the exam early!
Similar to schools in the lowlands, some schools in mountainous areas are also actively preparing 9th-grade students for the entrance exam. According to Mr. Vo Dang Chin, Principal of Tra Nam Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School (Tra Linh commune), this year the school has 26 9th-grade students. To supplement their knowledge before the entrance exam, the school organizes tutoring sessions, assigning teachers to teach 3 exam subjects (2 lessons/subject/week) to review the material; depending on the students' registration and the examination board, transportation is arranged to take them to the exam.
This school year marks the first time the 10th grade entrance exam is being held on a large scale, with an estimated 45,500 students expected to participate. In addition to guiding the People's Committees of communes and wards in preparing for the exam, the Department of Education and Training has issued directives to affiliated units with secondary education levels, instructing the People's Committees of communes and wards to direct their subordinate units to proactively develop and implement review, testing, and evaluation plans to familiarize students with the exam format and structure; to guide self-study methods and exam-taking skills… ensuring the full completion of the curriculum as prescribed; and to support, encourage, and create favorable conditions for students to prepare well for the exam.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Hoang Nam, because the exam is taking place earlier than in previous years, the department has proactively prepared early and synchronized all stages. Accordingly, schools are required to flexibly assign teachers, prioritizing experienced, enthusiastic, and responsible teachers to participate in reviewing the material for students; directing subject groups/teams to organize the compilation of review materials closely adhering to the required learning outcomes of the curriculum; and organizing retraining for teachers on compiling questions according to the exam structure and guiding the review content, helping schools implement teaching and review that meets the requirements.
The Department also directed the exam committee to strictly adhere to the curriculum's learning objectives, ensuring the questions are appropriate for the time of the exam and that they are reasonably differentiated according to cognitive levels, from recognition and comprehension to application. Particular attention should be paid to the specific needs of students in mountainous and disadvantaged areas to develop flexible and suitable review plans; strengthen tutoring and reinforce basic and foundational knowledge; and ensure that the exam questions are both effective in differentiating students and appropriate, avoiding pressure and allowing students to demonstrate their abilities. At the same time, schools should focus on providing psychological counseling and coordinating with families to help students stabilize their mindset and confidently enter the exam.
