For nearly a week now, every morning, Mrs. Le Thi Chien (80 years old), from Truong Ninh commune, has been brought by her children to Minh Anh Multi-Specialty Clinic (Dong Thuan ward) for physical therapy and rehabilitation. Having suffered a stroke that paralyzed one side of her body, after a short period of intensive treatment, her condition has improved significantly. Her paralyzed arm can now move up and down, and she can speak more words. Having learned about the clinic through recommendations from relatives and friends, Mrs. Chien and her family trusted the clinic and will continue to use it in the future, as this disease requires a long recovery period and professional care and support.
Similarly, Mr. Le Thanh Thuy (63 years old), residing in the former Nhan Trach fishing village (Nam Trach commune), also sought acupuncture treatment at Minh Anh Multi-Specialty Clinic when suffering from general body aches. Mr. Thuy said that thanks to the dedication, enthusiasm, and active support of the clinic staff, he felt reassured during his treatment and continued to recommend this clinic to his friends and relatives. These are two of many cases of elderly people seeking medical examination and treatment at Minh Anh Multi-Specialty Clinic.
According to Ms. Vo Thi Hoai Nam, the clinic's executive director, from its early days, the clinic identified the elderly as one of its main target groups, with activities including examination and treatment related to rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and post-surgical recovery. Since implementing health insurance coverage, the number of elderly patients seeking treatment has increased significantly, accounting for over 70% of annual patient visits. The clinic also provides support solutions for the elderly, such as: offering free health check-up packages to patients; facilitating regular check-ups for those with chronic illnesses, etc.

“By 2030, the clinic aims to transform into a hospital model, expanding its scale and developing specialties in internal medicine, cardiology, and geriatrics. Simultaneously, the unit will continue to invest in upgrading facilities and improving the quality of human resources, especially the team treating the elderly. To achieve this, in the current context of the highly sensitive economic situation, the clinic hopes for more favorable conditions in accessing loans; the insurance sector will expand regulations on medical examination and treatment for the elderly, especially regarding the limits on the use of medical techniques and procedures. In addition, strengthening communication is also an effective solution that the clinic will implement to increase awareness of the medical facility among the elderly,” added Ms. Vo Thi Hoai Nam.
Clearly, the healthcare service sector for the elderly alone has enormous potential for strong development in the province. However, not all healthcare facilities, especially the private sector, are boldly embracing this trend. Some facilities are still hesitant, waiting for the right mechanisms and policies, and are not yet willing to experiment.
The "silver economy" places the elderly at the center, as both beneficiaries and direct contributors to product creation. According to Mr. Dinh Cong Hai, Chairman of the Provincial Association of the Elderly, the total number of elderly members in the province is currently around 212,000. Leveraging their wisdom, experience, and positive qualities in production, the elderly have boldly borrowed capital to invest in production and business, increasing their income, legitimately enriching themselves, creating jobs for many local workers, and contributing to poverty reduction.
Many production and business models have proven highly effective, such as: integrated farms (livestock farming, forestry); fishing, processing, and seafood services; traditional rattan and bamboo weaving production, etc. Through the movement of elderly people competing in excellent production and business, they have contributed to increasing family income, contributing to state revenue, creating jobs, and passing on experience and traditional crafts to local children.
Mr. Dinh Cong Hai further stated that, with the current focus on developing the "silver economy," the elderly in the province expect strong breakthroughs in economic activities, products, and services to meet the needs of the elderly; at the same time, the elderly will be given more opportunities in production and business, and to promote their role in the family and society. In the short term, while awaiting the completion of mechanisms and policies for the "silver economy," the streamlining and reorganization of the association's staff at the grassroots level will be accelerated, creating conditions for the smooth and effective implementation of the "silver economy" initiatives in the future.
