'Online travel' via digital platforms

QTO - With its outstanding features in promoting and showcasing local tourism, digital platforms have become an effective communication channel to boost tourism development, especially targeting young people. A positive sign is that many young people in Quang Tri have used this "tool" to organize "online tours," creatively introducing ethnic minority costumes, cuisine, festivals, landscapes, etc., of localities within the province, achieving record viewership. "Good news travels fast," and through these "online tourism" channels, many tourists have come to Quang Tri to immerse themselves in the scenery and culture of the region.

Le Thi Chung Nhi, a young woman from the Pa Ko ethnic group in Khe Sanh commune, began creating promotional video clips for her hometown's tourism in 2023-2024. After graduating from Da Nang University of Technology and Medicine, Chung Nhi returned to her hometown with the dream of doing something for Khe Sanh, recognizing its untapped tourism potential. Starting with short photos and video clips she created at some beautiful locations in Khe Sanh, which were well-received online, she boldly began producing longer video clips with fresh and creative content and imagery.

Chung Nhi experimented with wearing the traditional clothing of the Pa Ko and Bru-Van Kieu ethnic groups to introduce how to make their unique dishes, or simply explained some distinctive features of the ethnic minority costumes, or introduced a beautiful and impressive scene of Khe Sanh…

Since then, the online community has begun to learn about and love Khe Sanh, as well as wanting to explore the traditional culture of the people there. Chung Nhi can't remember all the video clips she has made over the years. She is very happy that the number of views, followers, and positive comments is increasing every day. Currently, Chung Nhi's Facebook and TikTok pages have attracted more than 22,000 followers.

Achieving this result was the culmination of a long journey of self-study and exploration by the young Pa Kô girl. Chưng Nhi shared that she learned how to create engaging and relevant content, and how to apply tools for filming and editing images and video clips. Later, she received active support from the Khe Sanh Vietnam Agricultural Tourism Cooperative to develop more professional and modern digital products. Gradually, the quality of her video clips improved, and Chưng Nhi herself accumulated many valuable lessons during the process. Currently, she maintains a "meeting point" for tourists visiting Khe Sanh, with a small corner at her home dedicated to displaying handcrafted textile products of the ethnic minority people and renting out traditional ethnic costumes for tourists to take photos.

In the near future, I will study design further, with the intention of elevating the quality of the local textile products to suit the tastes of tourists. I very much hope to strengthen connections with other young people involved in "online tourism" in the province to promote local tourism more effectively.

With nearly 60,000 followers and 12 million likes on TikTok, "Quang Tri Cuisine" is considered a "culinary guide" of the homeland on the digital platform. Many delicious dishes from this region are introduced in an attractive, creative, yet familiar and memorable way. Not only are famous dishes that have become trademarks showcased, but many unique dishes, whose names are unfamiliar, are also presented, much to the excitement and anticipation of the online community.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, residing in Quang Tri ward, started this food channel five years ago. Originally an office worker, his love for local cuisine and passion for creating digital content led him to this fascinating field. With a spirit of self-learning and diligent research, he has contributed to bringing the rich and diverse culinary traditions, embodying the unique "soul" of Quang Tri, to the online community.

Quoc Khanh shared that this is a very effective channel to promote local tourism and help tourists equip themselves with basic culinary knowledge before arriving in Quang Tri. He, like other tourism content creators, hopes to strengthen connections with tourism managers to expand the network and promote the spread of "online tourism" products. In addition, the connection between digital content creators about Quang Tri tourism needs to be further strengthened so that the content conveyed to tourists is diverse, rich, and highly interconnected.

And many other young people are also diligently creating content about Quang Tri tourism to spread on digital platforms. They all share the common goal of bringing the image of the people and land of their homeland closer to tourists, thereby contributing to creating real value for local tourism. In this collective effort, more attention and support from the local government and relevant departments are needed. At the same time, close collaboration among content creators also plays a crucial role. Recently, the "Digital Trust Alliance" network, launched by the Quang Tri Provincial Police, connecting content creators in the province, is also an effective approach.
