According to the Provincial Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine, after more than 3 months of implementing the second phase of vaccination in 2023, the vaccination campaign has now concluded.
As a result, localities have vaccinated nearly 91,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine for buffaloes and cattle, achieving a vaccination rate of 83% of the total herd eligible for vaccination. For bovine hemorrhagic septicemia vaccine, the vaccination rate only reached 16% of the total herd, with approximately 17,300 doses administered. Other vaccines, such as lumpy skin disease vaccine, have been administered to 68,307 animals using vaccines provided by the State, while 240 animals were purchased and vaccinated by local people.
A total of 302,500 doses of avian influenza vaccine have been administered. Of these, 263,500 birds were vaccinated in Dong Hoa town and Phu Hoa district, two high-risk areas, with government support. The remaining 39,000 birds were vaccinated by local residents. 17,750 out of 30,034 dogs in the province have been vaccinated against rabies, achieving a vaccination rate of 55%.
Currently, the Provincial Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen animal quarantine and transportation through checkpoints and stations throughout the province; at the same time, it inspects veterinary hygiene and controls the buying, selling, and consumption of livestock, poultry, and livestock and poultry products, contributing to ensuring food safety for consumers.
