Continuing to innovate and develop tourism in Da Nang.

DNO - On the afternoon of October 14th, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held a conference to review the city's tourism activities over the past nine months and to implement tasks for the remaining months of 2024 and 2025. Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the City Party Committee, and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City, Nguyen Van Quang; and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Tran Chi Cuong, chaired the conference.

In his remarks at the conference, City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the efforts of the tourism industry and the close coordination with departments and agencies in the past period.

The nine-month visitor numbers speak volumes about the tireless efforts and the hope that the tourism industry will continue to build upon these achievements. The City Party Secretary highly appreciated the lessons learned by the tourism industry, emphasizing the need to understand and apply these lessons appropriately to the city's reality.

To achieve the set goals, the city's tourism industry needs to innovate its growth model; refresh existing products; improve the quality of accommodation facilities, services, and events; and create new products.

The City Party Secretary suggested key points such as: city leaders and industry leaders must also innovate their approach and management methods, and demonstrate determination in implementing the tasks of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee; setting goals towards green tourism, building criteria for green tourism development; and criteria for the level of safety for tourists visiting Da Nang …

The City Party Secretary emphasized that the city commends local businesses for their efforts in innovating tourism products and that the city will always support businesses and the tourism industry to increase the number of new tourism products; the combination of products from public investment and businesses will contribute to the overall development of the city.

The Party Committee of the People's Committee of the city directed the rectification of outstanding issues, the evaluation and response to opinions and recommendations from businesses, and reported issues beyond its authority to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee. The city, the tourism sector, and relevant departments and agencies should note that tourism activities in 2025 must be linked to important city events and attract tourists; in addition to maintaining existing events to become annual events, new events should be promoted in all fields.

The Party Committee of the People's Committee of the city reported to the Standing Committee on the project for exploiting marine tourism to receive feedback on this matter soon. To develop tourism, promoting digital transformation is crucial; therefore, the City Party Secretary noted the need to develop a digital transformation plan and innovate the approach to event communication.

Responding to the directives of the City Party Secretary, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong stated that, fundamentally, the industry has seriously and fully implemented the directives of the city leaders. The goals set by the City Party Secretary are also the tasks and objectives that the tourism industry must achieve in the coming period.

The directives and guidance from the City Party Secretary, as well as the suggestions from businesses and city leaders, will be taken into account and implemented fully in the coming time to promote the city's tourism development; meeting the expectations of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the City Party Committee, city leaders, the business community, and the people of the city in the future.

The city is also paying more attention to developing and renewing tourism products; ensuring a safe and pleasant tourism environment and social environment; strengthening security and order; and combating touting and harassment of tourists.

At the conference, businesses discussed and provided feedback on issues such as the current state of tourism business operations, difficulties and obstacles, and proposed solutions to overcome challenges and support businesses in tourism development; evaluating destinations and proposing ideas for developing tourism in Da Nang; the security and safety situation for tourists and the operation of accommodation services; inland waterway tourism activities in Da Nang, difficulties and obstacles, and solutions…

According to the Director of the Department of Tourism, Truong Thi Hong Hanh, in the past nine months, the total number of overnight visitors is estimated at 8.67 million, an increase of 33% compared to the same period in 2023, and 163% compared to the same period in 2019. Of these, international visitors are estimated at over 3.17 million, an increase of 30%, and 134% compared to the same period in 2019; domestic visitors are estimated at over 5.49 million, an increase of 34%, and 186% compared to the same period in 2019. Revenue from accommodation, food, and travel in the first nine months of 2024 is estimated at over 26,000 billion VND, an increase of 26%, and 135% compared to the same period in 2019.

The city and businesses have also focused on investing in the development of 11 unique product types to attract and serve tourists. Forecasted growth for 2024 is a target of 10.3 million overnight visitors, a 39% increase compared to 2023. Of these, international visitors are estimated at 4.2 million, a 2.1-fold increase, and domestic visitors at 6.1 million, a 13% increase. Revenue from accommodation, food, and travel services for the whole year is estimated at over 38 trillion VND, a 37% increase compared to 2023 and 178% compared to 2019.

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the city's tourism industry implemented five key tasks, including: announcing the Da Nang Tourism Culture Criteria; organizing events, festivals, and tourism products; conducting tourism communication and promotion; and ensuring a safe tourism environment.

Simultaneously, the city will implement eight key tasks for 2025, including focusing on removing difficulties and obstacles to implement three breakthroughs to promote tourism development; ensuring a favorable tourism environment; improving service quality and developing human resources for tourism, aiming for "high-quality" services; implementing digital transformation in tourism activities; linking and cooperating in tourism development domestically and internationally; and supporting tourism businesses…
