Neymar's injury status is being kept confidential. |
Neymar is at risk of missing another World Cup 2026 match. According to UOL and CazéTV journalist Fred Caldeira, the 34-year-old striker is almost certain to miss Brazil's clash with Haiti on June 20th.
On June 15th, Neymar underwent further medical examinations to assess the condition of his right calf. He did not participate in Brazil's first training session on the field, but instead focused on individual rehabilitation with the medical team.
The current plan of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is to bring Neymar back to training with the ball this week. However, the coaching staff does not want to risk the team's star player if he is not in his best physical condition.
Sources from CazéTV indicate that there is still a possibility Neymar could be registered to play and make a few minutes if his recovery progresses well. However, this scenario is considered unlikely as the CBF prioritizes protecting players throughout the long course of the tournament.
One notable detail is that the CBF also has no intention of officially releasing the results of Neymar's latest medical check-up. According to UOL, the federation wants to keep the medical information related to the number 10 player confidential and continue to closely monitor his recovery.
Within the Brazilian national team, the concern lies not only in Neymar's current injury but also in maintaining his fitness and muscle mass after a long period of inactivity.
After a 1-1 draw against Morocco in their opening match, Brazil has only 1 point and is currently third in Group C. Scotland leads with 3 points, while Morocco is ahead of Brazil due to a better fair-play record.
