Love of literature from a distant land

Recently, a group of writers in the province visited poet Pham Da Thuy in Ninh Hoa town. This was an extremely emotional meeting, full of literary love, because for many years now, the Khanh Hoa literary community has been vaguely aware of the health condition of the gentle female poet from the Dinh River. Pham Da Thuy is a foreign language teacher, loves literature, has published many excellent poetry collections and was admitted to the Vietnam Writers Association. Due to dementia, when meeting us, she was still cheerful and innocent, but could not remember the names of the people she met. This is a great loss for a foreign language teacher and poetry writer. Since then, she has had to leave the literary community that she loves with all her heart.

Along with poet Pham Da Thuy, Khanh Hoa literary community also deeply regrets the passing of writer Quy The. He was the most talented writer of Tram land in the 90s when he won a high prize at Van Nghe Newspaper with the short story "Mui Cop", which caused a great stir at that time. After that, he wrote short stories and won many prizes in competitions; he was admitted to the Vietnam Writers Association. Recently, on the occasion of a conference of veteran writers in Hai Phong , the Vietnam Writers Association invited him but he did not attend. It has been nearly 10 years since he left the literary community to live quietly in a foreign land and then returned to Vietnam. The literary community also has little news about him because he rarely interacted due to health problems. Currently, there are many writers who are struggling to live the last years of their lives such as: Xuan Tuynh, Tri Nhan...

There was a time when Khanh Hoa literary village gathered famous writers and poets in the literary world: Giang Nam, Dao Xuan Quy, Nguyen Ho, Y Dieng, The Vu, Tran Vu Mai, Cao Duy Thao, Nguyen Khac Phuc..., then the next generation: Cao Linh Quan, Nguyen Duc Linh, Le Khanh Mai, Ai Duy, Ton Nu Thu Thuy, Phan Cao Toai, Tran Chan Uy, Nguyen Minh Ngoc, Hoang Nhat Tuyen, Quy The, Van Ha, Bach Van Nguyen Dong... Currently, although there are few, there is also a new team: Khue Viet Truong, Luu Cam Van, Le Duc Duong, Le Duc Quang, Tran Ngoc Ho Truong, Dao Thi Thanh Tuyen, Quoc Sinh and young writers Nguyen Hoang Vu, Ngo The Lam, Nhu Hoai, Hong Dao, Huu Phu, Huong Nhuan...

It is worth mentioning that with the current trend, literature has reduced the number of writers and readers, so the atmosphere is quiet, there are few works that stir the hearts of readers like before. Even the creative team is scattered, less connected and there are even fewer literary meetings. Therefore, the elderly writers are retreating further into their own remote areas. This is a pity because writers need friends and a communication environment to be able to write. Even for young writers, gathering into a group is almost extremely difficult. There are a few writers who diligently write to newspapers to earn a little money to make a living, but everyone is afraid of printing books. Therefore, in Khanh Hoa, it has been more than 10 years since a conference of young writers has been organized. At the national conference of young writers 2 years ago, it took a long time to find a writer to be a representative of Khanh Hoa!

I think it is time for the Provincial Literature and Arts Association and the Vietnam Writers Association Branch in Khanh Hoa to regularly visit and encourage veteran writers; inspire, create a new source of inspiration and creative environment for young writers with practical actions, so that the provincial literature and arts scene is less quiet as it is today.
