
This event was organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism under the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee.
Attending the opening ceremony were: Ms. Ha Thi Nga, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Vietnam Women's Union; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, former Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; and Ms. Ngo Thi Doan Thanh, former Deputy Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department.

Also attending were members of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee: Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City People's Committee Vu Thu Ha; and representatives from embassies of various countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha stated that, with the goal of developing the capital's culture to be commensurate with the thousand-year tradition of Thang Long - Hanoi, Hanoi has determined: to focus on preserving and promoting the values of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, relics, and architectural works of value; to pay attention to developing cultural and tourism products with international brands; and to harmoniously and seamlessly combine preserving cultural identity with economic development, in which culture and people are both the goal and the resource and driving force for the development of the capital.

In the first nine months of 2024, Hanoi welcomed approximately 21.12 million tourists, including 4.45 million international visitors (an increase of over 40% compared to 2023) and 16.66 million domestic visitors (an increase of about 6% compared to 2023), making a positive contribution to the capital's GRDP growth rate.

"With the synchronized, flexible, and effective implementation of tasks and solutions in all fields, Hanoi strives to become a center and driving force for the development of the Red River Delta region, the key economic region of Northern Vietnam, and the whole country; and aims to develop to the level of capitals of developed countries in the region," emphasized Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha.


After three editions, the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival has become an annual event, aiming to develop a cultural and tourism product that contributes to promoting the image of Hanoi as a "safe, friendly, high-quality, and attractive destination." The event also aims to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, and to showcase and honor the unique beauty of Vietnamese culture, particularly the national Ao Dai.
This year's Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival is elaborately organized and large-scale, attracting the participation of 6 artisans and 85 designers from the North, Central, and South regions; nearly 100 booths from designers, ao dai brands, accessory businesses, travel companies, etc.
The highlight of the festival is the opening ceremony with elaborately staged artistic performances, reviving a part of Hanoi's 70-year history.
The program featured various scenes, dances, and fashion shows that recreated Hanoi – the heroic, resilient, and courageous capital city that is constantly innovating, developing, and integrating into the global community.

Besides musical performances, there was also a fashion show featuring ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) collections from 70 designers, including well-known names such as: Do Trinh Hoai Nam, Duc Hung, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, Miss Ngoc Han, Thuy Nguyen, La Hang, Vu Thao Giang, Luu Quynh Lan...

In addition, the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 features many attractive events such as: experiencing the "Essence of Ao Dai" double-decker bus; an Ao Dai carnival with the participation of nearly 1,000 people taking place on the morning of October 5th at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Conservation Center and some adjacent streets; an art program "Ao Dai Night" taking place on the evening of October 5th with the participation of 70 designers; the final round of the Ao Dai design competition on the afternoon of October 6th...
The festival also includes side activities such as: exhibitions and displays showcasing ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) from famous designers and brands; tourism products and services, and traditional craft villages; demonstrations of works by artisans from the silk villages of Van Phuc and Trach Xa; a folk games area; and a Hanoi culinary space called "Thang Long Five Flavors" introducing light and flavorful Hanoi dishes...
The Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival opens up a new direction for the development of culture and tourism in the capital city, contributing to making Vietnam and Hanoi a beloved destination and a top choice for many domestic and international tourists. The festival lasts until October 6th.
