General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is committed to building a team of intellectuals.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, a great intellect and talent of the Vietnamese revolution, a cultural figure, a theoretical banner of the Party, an outstanding disciple who constantly studies and follows the thoughts, ethics, and style of the great President Ho Chi Minh , has dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause of our Party and nation, living his whole life for the country and the people.

Under the leadership of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, the close ties between the Party, the State, and other social labor forces with intellectuals have strengthened and increased the power of the great national unity and the worker-farmer-intellectual alliance, serving the task of rapid and sustainable national development in the new context.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Quy Quynh, from the Personnel and Inspection Department of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, emotionally recalled that on August 13, 2011, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and worked at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

In his speech, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated the heartfelt contributions of the professors and doctors, while also sharing the difficulties faced by scientists in their lives and work. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also expressed his support and hope that the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology would continue to leverage its strengths in research, development, and application of science and technology, training high-quality human resources, and directly contributing to the country's development. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong requested that the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology continue to raise awareness and thoroughly understand the Party's Resolution to implement it more effectively in the future.

Through his speech, it is clear that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is very concerned about the scientific and technological intellectual community, including the intellectuals of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology; acknowledging the great contributions of the intellectuals in the Academy, who have wholeheartedly trusted the leadership of the Party, and have always been dedicated to contributing to the protection of the Party's ideological foundation and implementing activities to promote the strength of the worker-farmer-intellectual alliance.

This was also clearly demonstrated in the opening speech of the 8th Plenum of the 13th Central Committee, where General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: “The new context requires us to pay more attention to building, developing, and strongly promoting the role, position, and contributions of the country's intellectuals – the lifeblood of the nation – to meet the requirements of proactively and actively participating in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and continuing to promote the cause of renovation, industrialization, and modernization of the country.”

Having met and spoken with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong several times, engineer Bui Cong Khe, Director of the Center for New Materials under the Hanoi Union of Science and Technology Associations, shared: “The first time I met the General Secretary was in 2006, when he was the Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee and delivered a speech on the occasion of the 116th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth. I was a former student of the new Party member training course organized by the Hanoi City Party Committee in 1966, and President Ho Chi Minh visited and spoke with me. The second time was in 2015, on the occasion of the 7th Congress of the Hanoi Union of Science and Technology Associations at the Friendship Cultural Palace. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited the exhibition booth showcasing the scientific and technological achievements of the Hanoi Union of Associations. I personally introduced the scientific products manufactured by the Center for New Materials, and the General Secretary encouraged and praised the research team.”

For engineer Bui Cong Khe, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is a leader embodying the spirit of "All for the country and the people," a man who dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause, working and fighting for the cause of the Party and the nation until his last breath. Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's thought on Party building, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has delved deeply into and clarified the Party's role in the country's renewal process, and the building of a ruling Party based on the practical experience of Vietnam's renewal. The greatest success in the General Secretary's career is his work in Party building, building unity among the Party, the people, and the army, and building an increasingly clean and strong national governance apparatus.

Under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party for the first time issued a Resolution on continuing to build and perfect the socialist rule of law state of Vietnam in the new period; in which, it sets the goal of “Perfecting the socialist rule of law state of Vietnam of the People, by the People, for the People, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam; with a complete legal system, strictly and consistently implemented; a streamlined, clean, effective and efficient state apparatus; a contingent of cadres, civil servants and public employees with sufficient qualities, capabilities, truly professional and honest…”

As a scientist and engineer, Bui Cong Khe always remembers the words of the General Secretary at the ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's meeting with intellectuals (May 18, 1963 - May 18, 2023) and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (March 26, 1983 - March 26, 2023): “The intellectual class is the talented and vital force of the nation, those who bring prosperity to the country; bring glory to the nation and honor to the race. The responsibility of Vietnamese intellectuals is to be the main force in bringing science and technology and creative intellectuals into the cause of national construction and development.”

It is evident that the General Secretary has paid special attention to the ideological guidance of the intellectual community. Besides professional qualifications and capabilities, intellectuals must constantly cultivate good moral qualities, a sense of service to the Fatherland and the people, and they themselves must establish a firm ideology – the ideology of the working class – and absolutely abide by the leadership of the Party and the management of the State.
