According to the VNA correspondent in London, during his official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from October 28-30, General Secretary To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation attended a roundtable discussion with leading artificial intelligence (AI) and technology strategists from the UK and around the world .
The seminar, held on the morning of October 28th local time in London, was co-organized by the Boston Global Forum (BGF) and is a strategic step to promote cooperation between Vietnam and leading technology powers in the AI era, while affirming Vietnam's position in global digital transformation.
The event takes place against the backdrop of a global explosion in AI and semiconductor chips, two fields shaping the future of the global economy . With the aspiration to become a pioneering nation in the digital economy, Vietnam hopes to learn from the experience of the UK – the cradle of the Industrial Revolution and home to great minds such as Isaac Newton, John Locke, Adam Smith, Alan Turing, William Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens – to build an innovative, humane, and sustainable technology ecosystem.
In his opening remarks at the seminar, General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting and listening to the heartfelt and practical opinions of experts and strategists in London, a global center of technology and innovation.
The General Secretary emphasized that the world is witnessing remarkable advancements in science and technology, especially as AI becomes a key driver of economic growth and innovation. Vietnam has also identified science and technology and digital transformation as top breakthroughs for rapid, sustainable development and advancement in the global value chain.
Therefore, Vietnam wishes to work alongside advanced countries to share common visions and values, thereby building a better world where AI serves humanity, promoting innovation, compassion, peace, and prosperity. The General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam is ready to embrace and experiment with pioneering ideas.
Many technology experts praise Vietnam's dynamic development. In just one generation, Vietnam has lifted millions out of poverty, built one of Asia's most competitive manufacturing economies, and boasts a young, digitally proficient workforce.
In particular, Vietnam's progress in administrative reform and its openness to international cooperation have positioned Vietnam as a key partner in the global network of trusted digital nations.
Some opinions also suggest that, for AI to truly serve socio-economic development and bring about a better life for people, governments need to focus on building reliable digital infrastructure and developing AI standards that are responsible, protect privacy, and ensure fairness and transparency.

In his concluding remarks at the seminar, General Secretary To Lam expressed his admiration for the issues and ideas presented by experts and managers with extensive experience in the field of AI, and stated that the solutions and recommendations put forward were very much in line with Vietnam's development orientation and goals.
The General Secretary stated that he would instruct relevant agencies to research and coordinate efforts to clarify the content, and then proceed with concrete steps to transform the idea into projects and programs in Vietnam.
The General Secretary emphasized that the seminar was a meaningful starting point and would open up a long-term, profound journey of cooperation between Vietnam and the intellectuals and elites of the United Kingdom and the world.
The General Secretary expressed his hope that in the coming time, experts will continue to accompany and support Vietnam in developing AI in particular and science and technology in general, especially in three priority areas: sharing knowledge and experience in national AI strategy planning, developing digital infrastructure and innovation ecosystems; promoting investment and technology transfer, and applying AI in key areas such as healthcare, smart agriculture and digital education; and working with Vietnam to successfully implement key science and technology programs, especially in new and pioneering fields, to help Vietnam build a creative and self-reliant economy.
General Secretary To Lam respectfully invited experts and scientists with extensive experience in science, technology, and AI to Vietnam to have more time for exchange and direct working conditions with Vietnamese agencies responsible for formulating and implementing science and technology policies. This aims to quickly bring the ideas discussed in the seminar into reality, creating new values, new models, and new hope for humanity in the AI era.
The seminar not only contributed to strengthening comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the UK but also opened up prospects for development in the fields of AI and semiconductor chips for the Vietnamese economy.
This event marks a significant step forward in Vietnam's journey to become a leading nation in the global digital economy and innovation, while contributing to building a world where technology serves humanity, promotes peace and prosperity.
