Loans from the Dong Hy Social Policy Bank have helped many households in Trai Cau commune invest in efficient tea production. |
The family of Ms. Hoang Thi Manh, from My Lap hamlet, Trai Cau commune, was once a poor household. Her husband worked far away, and she single-handedly raised two young children, struggling to make ends meet, with poverty clinging to her.
The turning point came in 2023, when she received a preferential loan of 100 million VND from the Dong Hy branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies. With the capital, she boldly invested in tea cultivation, gradually developing her family's economy.
Thanks to hard work and the wise use of capital, by 2025, Ms. Manh's family had officially escaped poverty. Their lives have become increasingly prosperous, and she has even built a sturdy and spacious house.
Not only Ms. Manh's family, but over the past period, the Dong Hy branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies has effectively implemented policy loan programs.
By the end of October 2025, the Bank had provided loans to over 3,000 poor, near-poor, and newly-escaped-from-poverty households, with a total outstanding loan balance of over 233 billion VND. This capital has empowered people to invest in production, livestock farming, crop cultivation, expand their livelihoods, and improve their living standards.
Besides lending, the Dong Hy branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies also closely cooperates with grassroots organizations in managing capital, guiding borrowers to use capital for the right purposes, and maximizing its effectiveness.
Ms. Doan Le Thuy, Director of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) in Dong Hy district, said: "Thousands of households have accessed preferential capital to develop production, alleviate poverty, and gradually improve their lives. In the coming time, we will continue to coordinate with organizations and associations to create conditions for households to access capital as soon as possible and expand sustainable production models suitable to local conditions."
In reality, the effectiveness of policy-based credit funds has made a significant contribution to sustainable poverty reduction and ensuring social security in communes in particular and the entire province in general.
In Trai Cau commune, by the end of the 2020-2025 term, the poverty rate had decreased to 11.43%, and the near-poverty rate to 8.5%. Mr. Dao Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, affirmed: Capital from the Social Policy Bank, along with other resources, has supported people in building many production models such as forest planting and fruit tree cultivation, contributing to poverty reduction. The locality has effectively coordinated with the Bank in implementing these programs.
According to a representative from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) Thai Nguyen Branch, by the end of September 2025, the total preferential capital disbursed under the program in the province reached over 9,111 billion VND, an increase of over 505 billion VND compared to the end of 2024; loan disbursements reached over 2,156 billion VND.
The transformative stories from many families in the area have affirmed the important role of policy-based credit in sustainable poverty reduction.
Thanks to preferential loans being provided at the right time and to the right recipients, many households have been able to improve their lives, boldly invest in production, expand livelihood models, and thereby build increasingly prosperous and stable lives.
