On December 12th, at the Ministry of National Defence Hall, the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its founding (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and to receive the First-Class Independence Order.

General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission To Lam attended the commemoration ceremony. Delivering a speech at the commemoration ceremony, General Trinh Van Quyet stated that over its glorious 80-year history, the Army has nurtured, selected, and forged generations of military officers in general, and political officers in particular, who are truly exemplary in political acumen, intellect, and practical organizational capabilities, and model in ethics and lifestyle, earning the trust, love, and admiration of their comrades and the people.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam presented the First-Class Independence Order to the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army and delivered a speech at the commemoration ceremony. He acknowledged and highly appreciated the role and contributions of the political agency system, the political officers, political commissars, and political officers, especially the role of the General Political Department, in the process of building, fighting, winning, and maturing of the Army over the past 80 years.
General Secretary To Lam requested that the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, the political agencies, and the entire army's political cadres continue to uphold the fine traditions of the nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army, and the glorious traditions of the General Political Department in the coming period. He urged them to strengthen unity and cohesion, proactively implement Resolution No. 8 of the 13th Central Committee on "The Strategy for National Defense in the New Situation," the Vietnamese national defense strategy, the Vietnamese military strategy, the strategy for national defense in cyberspace, and the strategy for protecting national borders. He also urged them to proactively advise the Politburo, the Secretariat, and directly the Central Military Commission on the concrete implementation of resolutions, directives, conclusions, and regulations of the Party, and policies and laws of the State on military and national defense and national defense.

Along with that, the General Secretary requested the General Political Department to focus on advising, directing, and successfully organizing the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term in the Army, and the Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress. Thorough preparation for the successful organization of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term is a key political task that not only contributes significantly to the success of the 14th National Party Congress but also serves as an opportunity to consolidate and enhance leadership capacity and improve the combat strength of Party committees and organizations at all levels to meet the requirements and tasks of building the Army and defending the Fatherland in the new situation. The Party Committee of the Army must set an example in implementing the Party's policies on Party building and rectification and the political system, on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, and on continuing to innovate and streamline the political system's organizational structure to be efficient and effective.

The General Secretary also requested the General Political Department to focus on improving the quality of political and ideological education throughout the army, especially in innovating and improving the quality of research and study of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, the State's policies and laws, and the education of patriotic traditions and the fine traditions of the Party, the nation, the army, and the units. This will contribute to building a strong political foundation for officers and soldiers throughout the army, ensuring absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the Party, the State, and the people; enabling them to clearly identify partners, adversaries, and subversive plots and tactics; preventing and combating "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the ranks; and setting a leading example in protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
