Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said that this year, the high school graduation exam will be held for two groups of candidates: candidates studying under the 2006 general education program (candidates who finished grade 12 from 2024 onwards); candidates studying under the 2018 general education program (this year, taking the high school graduation exam for the first time).

For candidates taking the 2006 generaleducation program, the locality will arrange a separate testing site. The organization model and method will remain stable according to the 2024 High School Graduation Exam Regulations.
For candidates taking the graduation exam under the 2018 general education program, Professor Huynh Van Chuong shared some new points compared to the 2006 general education program: candidates take the exam in 3 sessions instead of 4 sessions as before. The exam is oriented towards assessing capacity, with new subjects, appearing for the first time in the high school graduation exam such as Information Technology, Economic and Legal Education, Technology... Literature can use materials in textbooks. This information is more harmonized than previous announcements from the Ministry of Education and Training. Because from the beginning of the school year, the Ministry affirmed that the Literature exam does not use materials in textbooks to guide candidates. Explaining this change, Mr. Chuong said that the Literature exam can still "pick up" words from textbooks. In addition, candidates under the 2006 program are allowed to use Atlas when taking the Geography exam, while candidates under the 2018 program are not allowed to use...
100% of candidates can register for the exam online. The graduation score has increased the weight of learning outcomes from 30% to 50%. No bonus points for vocational certificates. No conversion to 10 points for foreign language certificates in graduation, only reduced exam subjects.
The learning and training results of candidates currently in grade 12 will be automatically synchronized from the industry database immediately after the end of the school year (May 31). The reception points will review the regional priority regime with the national population database right during the process of candidate registration.
Mr. Chuong especially noted that the Examination Councils of provinces and cities need to organize separate examination sites for groups of candidates taking the 2006 program. Even if there is only one candidate registered, the exam must be organized separately and in accordance with regulations.
