Recently, at a meeting on the progress of the city's housing development program, social housing projects, and accommodation for workers in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Huynh Thanh Khiet, Deputy Director Director of the Department of Construction, said that according to the plan, this City plans to develop about 26.200 - 35.000 social housing units (including accommodation for workers).
According to Mr. Khiet, currently the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction is coordinating with relevant units to focus on completing legal procedures to accelerate the implementation of the social housing development plan for the period 2021- 2025, with the expected target of developing about 2,5 million m2 of construction floor space (equivalent to about 35.000 apartments).

Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that there is a specific list of 37 projects and only 1 project has been completed, 6 projects are under construction and 30 projects are carrying out legal procedures.
For this group of 36 projects, the Department of Construction plans to complete and put into use a maximum of 13 projects with 12.000 units, while the remaining will be fully promoted in terms of procedures.
Regarding worker accommodation, the Department of Construction said that the entire city has 2,6 million workers working in businesses. The current status of the worker accommodation fund in the area has been invested in: 34 completed projects, corresponding to 6.198 rooms and meeting 40.600 accommodations. Currently, the city has 6 plots of land to build worker accommodation with an area of 6,9 hectares, corresponding to 4.718 rooms.

Also at the above meeting, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai emphasized that by 2025, the city must implement at least 26.200 units in the project assigned by the Prime Minister and at most 35.000 units according to the registered plan. of this City.
The Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Construction to work with social housing project investors to fulfill their commitments to implementing the projects.
City leaders also asked the Department of Construction to review the two processes of public land and investor land, and should have regulations on time, establish an interdisciplinary team, and a mechanism to move the entire process and withdraw it. If the procedure time is short, businesses will participate. If the procedure time is shortened, businesses are ready to participate in building social housing.

Also working in Ho Chi Minh City for more than 6 years, Ms. Cao Thu Thuy's family (from Thanh Hoa province) shared: "3 years ago my husband and I completed the procedure to buy a social house built by a private company in Binh Duong. Tan, but because he did not understand the legal procedures, the application was submitted slowly and took a long time, so he could not buy a social house. Since then, my whole family has been renting a house to live. In this city, it is really difficult to buy a house no matter how much you save.
Workers' wages are low, just enough to cover a living. If the state supported the construction of social housing, created conditions for buying and paying in installments like the currently announced policies, that would be great and give hope to the poor. People living far away from home want to stick with this land for a long time like us."
Another case is that the family of Mr. Nguyen Tuan Tu (Binh Thuan province) shared that he previously worked and rented a Sadeco worker accommodation in Tan Thuan export processing zone (District 7) for his family to live.
“After staying here for many years, after being given favorable conditions to live and work, due to low rental costs and stable living conditions, I was then supported by my family and borrowed more from the bank so I was able to buy a house. commercial house in Binh Duong and moved here to live.
I find it very necessary to build many accommodation houses for workers in industrial parks and export processing zones because it will not only create conditions for a living and working environment but will help people like us have more motivation. to strive to buy a house, towards a better future,” Mr. Tu shared.
