Ho Chi Minh City issues urgent tax payment deadline.

(NLDO) - Before taxpayers return to work on February 23rd (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year), the Ho Chi Minh City tax authority has announced the deadline for tax payment.

Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department stated that for taxpayers who file and pay taxes on a monthly basis, according to Article 86 of Circular No. 80/2021/TT-BTC, the deadline for submitting tax declarations and paying taxes for January 2026 is February 20th.

However, since the Lunar New Year holiday in 2026 extended until February 22nd, according to the law, the tax payment deadline is calculated as the next working day after February 22nd. This means the final deadline for paying taxes for January 2026 is February 23rd (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year).

This deadline applies to taxes that are declared and paid monthly, including: value-added tax (VAT), personal income tax (PIT), special consumption tax, resource tax, and environmental protection tax.

The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department urges taxpayers to proactively review their obligations, complete tax declarations, and pay taxes on time to avoid late payment penalties or administrative fines. In case of any difficulties, taxpayers can contact their directly managing tax authority for timely guidance and support.
