Speaking at the reception ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Lam said that this was probably the first time in the country that a state agency had received a project of such large scale and value from an enterprise. Previously, many localities had received funding from enterprises for a number of large infrastructure projects but with smaller values or associated with accompanying urban projects. The pedestrian bridge project sponsored by NutiFood for Ho Chi Minh City is a public bridge, has high community significance and is a highlight, associated with the city's historical relics, one of the new symbols of Ho Chi Minh City in the future.

Aspiration to contribute to "Saigon land"
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Bao Minh, Vice Chairman of Nutifood's Board of Directors, shared: "Nutifood is a start-up and growing business from Saigon. That has fueled our love for this place and nurtured our dream of doing something to make this land more beautiful and more livable. The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River with its environmental, landscape and economic values for the people and the city has made our wish come true. This will not only be a new symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, helping to connect the two banks from District 1 to Thu Duc City, but also help illuminate the Thu Thiem urban area."
"The pedestrian bridge promises to be a beautiful entertainment and relaxation place for city residents as well as an attractive tourist destination for visitors from afar. It is also a 'gift' that all Nutifood staff and employees unanimously express their gratitude to the land and millions of consumers in Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country who have loved, trusted and used the company's products for more than 20 years," said Mr. Tran Bao Minh.
With a length of 500m, starting from Bach Dang wharf park, the foot of the bridge is the riverside park and outside the boundary of area A - south of the central square of Thu Thiem urban area, the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is designed in the shape of a water coconut leaf, a very typical leaf of the Southern region. The bridge will be like a soft leaf gently flying on the Saigon River, helping to recall the familiar, rustic image of the past of the Southern region and will also be a new symbol, helping to connect with modernity, towards the future of the city named after Uncle Ho.
This design was carried out by the joint venture Chodai - Takashi Niwa Architects and Chodai Kisojiban Vietnam, selected by the City People's Committee from a competition organized by the Department of Planning and Architecture 4 years ago.
Not only does it have a memorable design, the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is also as beautiful as a work of art. In addition to serving pedestrians, the bridge also has lanes for cyclists and people with disabilities. In addition, the bridge is also designed to allow ambulances to move in emergency situations.
According to Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Van Mai, the pedestrian bridge is located in an important location - the Saigon River is a part of the historical memory of more than 300 years of Ho Chi Minh City. This is also a place where important events are regularly held and is a place that attracts tourists to visit and sightsee. Therefore, the construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting the two banks of the Saigon River is very meaningful, bringing many great values, not only helping to promote and turn Thu Thiem into an economic - financial - service center but also creating a cultural and tourist highlight, helping people and visitors from afar have another beautiful place to go for a walk, relax, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of the city.
"The pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River is a large-scale project that requires high technology and large funding, so it needs the support and cooperation of individuals and organizations. The city would like to thank Nutifood for giving this extremely meaningful gift," Chairman Phan Van Mai expressed his gratitude to Nutifood at the signing ceremony.
After the ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will hand over the site and design plan to Nutifood. The bridge is expected to officially start construction on April 30, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
