Quang Tri: Cua Viet Commune Police rescued 11 fishermen in distress at sea

On the afternoon of September 28, the police of Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province, informed that they had successfully rescued 11 fishermen in distress at sea in the commune, due to big waves and strong winds during storm No. 10.

Accordingly, at 5:45 a.m., after receiving a report of a boat and fishermen having an accident in the sea right in front of the inlet of Cua Viet commune, the Commune Police quickly arrived at the scene and deployed forces and vehicles to promptly approach and rescue two fishing boats with the signs BV4670-TS and BV0042-TS, of which one boat sank in the sea area of ​​Nam Cua Viet commune (including 3 crew members) and one boat was drifted and stranded in the sea area of ​​Cua Viet commune (including 8 crew members).

In order to promptly rescue the crew members on the ship in the sea of ​​Cua Viet commune, the Commune Police Command directed the deployment of 30 police officers to coordinate with the functional forces to organize the rescue, mobilized 1 fishing boat and members of the rescue team, including: Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (1983, captain, residing in KP7, Cua Viet commune), Mr. Vo Van Dung (1974, residing in KP6, Cua Viet commune) and Mr. Tran Van Hieu (1979, Head of the Order Police Team of Cua Viet Commune Police) to approach and save 7 crew members, 1 crew member swam to shore. Currently, 8 crew members have been transferred to the Provincial Hospital for emergency treatment (of which 2 crew members were seriously injured).

The rescue team continued to increase forces to quickly rescue 3 crew members of a fishing boat that sank in the waters of Nam Cua Viet commune, however, due to big waves and strong winds, they were unable to approach.

Currently, Cua Viet Commune Police are actively coordinating with functional forces to deploy measures to approach, support, and promptly rescue the remaining crew members.

To promptly commend the brave spirit of participating in the rescue of 8 crew members in distress during storm No. 10 in the Cua Viet sea area on the morning of September 28, at noon of the same day, the People's Committee of Cua Viet commune, Quang Tri province organized an unexpected reward for comrade Tran Van Hieu (Head of the Order Police Team of Cua Viet commune police), Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (captain, residing in ward 7, Cua Viet commune) and Mr. Vo Van Dung (fisherman, residing in ward 6, Cua Viet commune).
