According to SGGP reporters, from 6pm to 8pm, the line of cars just exiting the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho Expressway had to line up, inching forward on National Highway 1 towards Can Tho City.

On weekends, traffic on Highway 1 is heavy, and the bridge upgrade construction makes traffic jams even more serious.
According to records, until about 20:00, the traffic jam still continued.

Some drivers saw the traffic jam and pulled over to the empty road under Can Tho bridge (Vinh Long bank) to wait for it to clear.

Mr. Tuan, a truck driver, said: "National Highway 1 from the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway intersection to Can Tho bridge is about 5km long, but I have been traveling for more than an hour and still haven't passed this section. I don't understand why the bridge repair unit does not have a plan to divert and regulate traffic to avoid traffic jams."

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of Road Management Area IV, said that because the Can Tho bridge surface is degraded, the unit is upgrading and repairing the main span of the bridge's steel girder, which is more than 200m long.
The upgrade officially started today (November 15) and is expected to be completed in 5 days.
Before construction, Road Management Area IV coordinated with local authorities to organize traffic flow and regulation.

However, according to the reporter's actual records, from 6 p.m. to about 8 p.m. today (November 15), although the traffic jam lasted for a long time, there was still no traffic control or traffic flow control force.
At the construction site on the main span of Can Tho bridge, there was only one person sitting holding a signal baton.
