According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the afternoon and night of November 17, the North will be affected by a strong cold air mass, with increased northeast winds and a sharp drop in temperature.
This is the strongest cold spell since the beginning of the season, the North is turning cold widely, some places are very cold.
The cold air will start affecting the Northeast and North Central regions, then gradually spread to the Northwest and North Central regions. On land, strong Northeast winds will be at level 3-4, and at sea at level 4-5, accompanied by localized showers and thunderstorms.
The lowest temperature in the plains, midlands of the North and North Central regions is commonly 12-15°C, in mountainous areas 9-12°C, and in some high mountainous areas it can drop below 8°C, causing severe cold.

Hanoi will also experience its first cold day with the lowest temperature ranging from 13-15°C, down about 6°C compared to the previous average. The peak of cold and humidity in the capital is forecast to fall on November 18, when the daytime temperature will only reach about 20°C, and at night it will drop to 15°C, with rain making the feeling of cold clearly.
On November 19, the temperature continued to drop, fluctuating between 14-19°C. After that, the weather remained cold at night; during the day, the rain decreased, and the temperature began to rise.
At sea, from the evening and night of November 17, the northeast wind in the Gulf of Tonkin gradually increased to level 7, sometimes level 8, gusting to level 9, rough seas, waves 3-5m high. In the North East Sea, the northeast wind gradually increased to level 7-8, gusting to level 9-10, rough seas, waves 4-6m high.
From November 18, the northeast wind from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will gradually increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 4-6m high.
The influence of cold air combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone has caused widespread heavy rain in the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa.
