INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOUR-PALACE COUNCIL PAINTING Material: Lacquered - Dimensions: 82 x 102 cm Adapted from the Hang Trong folk painting The Four-Palace Council, or simply the Four Palaces, is a belief system within the Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship tradition. The Four Palaces include: Heavenly Palace (the celestial realm): The first Mother Goddess (Mother of Heaven) governs the sky, controlling the powers of clouds, rain, wind, storms, thunder, and lightning. Mountain Palace (the mountainous realm): The second Mother Goddess (Mother of the Mountains) oversees the mountainous regions and bestows wealth upon all beings. Water Palace (the realm of rivers and water): The third Mother Goddess (Mother of the Waters) rules the rivers and waters, assisting in rice cultivation and fishing. Earth Palace (the realm of land): The fourth Mother Goddess (Mother of the Earth) manages the land, the source of all life. Hanging the "Four-Palace Council" painting in a prominent position in the home will bring protection and blessings to the homeowner, free from worries and illness, and ensure good fortune.
